Anyone have any experience with this?
How does the Ishtar rate against the Domi. And any fitting suggestions are welcome as well.

I Couldnt help but reply to this thread. I have been doing lvl 4 missions for a very long time and though the rewards are less now I still like them because I can minimise the game at any time, get on with real life stuff and come back to it and not thave to worry about getting ganked.
I started them in a Mega which was painful as a noob, then the Domi which really is a trust worthy ship even if it is abit hard work on the harder lvl 4's. Then bought myself a Nightmare which is dam cool and had a uber tank but just didnt have the killing power of the Domi. Then I went T2 with the Ishtar and I never looked back and I was using this setup:
Highs = 2 Tractor Beams, 2 Salvager's and 1 Med Beam laser.
Meds = Afterburner, 3 cap recharger II's and Omni drone tracking enhancer.
Lows = 2 Med corpum Armour reps and 3 named energized resist membranes.
Rigs = 1 armour rep amount and 1 Cap recharge rig.
Drones = 5 Ogre II's , 5 hobgoblin II's, 5 Hammahead II's and 5 sentry drones.
I loved this ship it tanks all day, was very fun to fly and I dont think any ship could beat it in my eyes. BUT recently mission AI has improved and drones are no longer safe and at times I could of really done with some hard hitting guns. SO as I mission mostly with friends now as its faster and more fun I have found I dont need to salvage anymore so my eyes gazed upon the EOS and OmFg this ship is cool!!! On this I run:
Highs = 6 T2 250mm rails, 1 tractor beam (ninja looting)
Meds = Domination Afterburner, 3 Cap Recharger II's and a Omni drone tracking enhancer.
Lows = 2 Med corpum Armour reps and 3 named energized resist membranes.
Rigs = 1 armour rep amount and 1 Cap recharge rig.
Drones = 7 Ogre II's , 5 hobgoblin II's, 5 Hammahead II's.
So as you can see its pritty much the same as the Istar except it can tank ANYTHING a lvl 4 could throw at it with a smile on its face (1500 odd every 8.8sec), plus it has much more firepower with the rails that can hit very close and up to 70KM. I know I have to carry ammo now but if your in a group the EOS wins outright but solo I would say Ishtar if your lazy.
Hope this helps someone with a setup because I know this EOS kicks ass even in PvP, it took 5 of my corp m8's to take out my tank all in T2 ships.
Oh and I forgot to say the resists are pritty sweat with 92% KIN, 85% Therm, 70% EXP , 82% EMP and ofc if you fight a specific enemy those could bumped up abit...

Boost of 250 every 3.2 seconds. Everything runs forever. Top speed of 850 m/s. Real easy to tank anything as the resists are great.
If you wanted you could fit a em rig instead and add an em hardner and invun II. Gives an omnitank that handles pretty much anything a level 4 will throw at you.
Drones allow you to swap out damage type, and also swap out for smaller ships. Ishtar drone bay allows two sets of heavy, 1 med , 1 small at level 4.
Levl 4 on easy mode imo.
'Nuff said IMO. Although, you could swap rail/salvagers to salvagers/tractors, although 800m/s sustainable + 500m/s tractor = fast looting. |

Two things: 1.) If you armor tank an ishtar in PvE, you didn't quite get it.
2.) Raven will do it about 3-4 times faster with only 1/3 - 1/4 skill and isk required. -- This game is still in beta stage |

Edited by: Sheeana on 09/07/2007 10:13:38 I wouldnt use a battleship in lvl 4 mssions if you doubled thier damage, having to travel 100km to the next gate in a raven is enough to make me want to play WoW....
I'm trying to make the game fun here! Plus a raven could not out tank my EOS, a rattlesnake maby but once again the game is suposed to be fun and you cant afk kill in a raven not enough drones!

Edited by: Ryysa on 09/07/2007 10:57:18 Armortank is very good, unlike this cap relays + shieldbooster setup.
Ishtar can armortank just fine, and it can run two medium armor repairers permamently. You can also fit rep amount rigs to increase the damage repaired even more.
Setup is: Highs: whatever mids: cap rechargers/ab/large cap battery II lows: 2x mar II, 3x hardeners to match rat type.
This will easily tank 700+ dps on the two resists you harden against. It also tanks close to 500 dps with just an omnitank.
Oh, also, all this said, if you want to do lvl4's fast, get a raven. It's much slower doing it with an ishtar than a raven, even if you have pretty crappy skills for the raven. Sad but true.

IMHO, missiles work best for missions, then guns and lastly drones. Mostly because managing them is a pain with the abundance of triggered wave missions and the slow travelling time of heavy drones. But then again, doing missions in a non-raven is always better than being a lemming~

The point of the cap relay -> shielboosted setup is speed during missions, thus allowing you to wonder between wrecks, salvage/loot and move between acceleration gates. Albeit armor tanking provides more of a tank, whereas the shield boosted one works just fine. |
