nothing happens, they sit there till you remove them.
Home stations are basically where ever you want to call home. If you like a certian system, then its beneficial to keep most of your stuff in one easy to reach place

I've seen 'secure' password-protected station item holders.....(or are those something totally different).
does this mean it's possible for others to steal stuff you leave at a station?

Nobody can take stuff from your hanger, it is the one place where your stuff is truly safe. The secure station containers are for use in corp hangers so that permissions can be managed in more detail.

No, it's not possible to steal stuff from your personal hangar.
If you're in a corporation, there is a shared hangar at each station your corp rents in, and that will have different permissions depending on how the CEO and Directors set it up.
You can also buy "Station Vaults" to organize your belongings in your own hangar. While these can be password protected, if they're in your personal hangar there's really no point.

Edited by: Baka Lakadaka on 10/07/2007 02:44:43 If you're in a player Corporation, then the Directors and Security Officers of that corp can see into your hanger, but they can't take/move/sell/etc.

With certain high-end roles and permissions yes, but it's view-only.
Useful for if you suspect a corp thief, and they're dumb enough to keep the goods in that station.

Short Answer - your stuff is safe, and it's not going anywhere, ever, period, unless you do something with it or trash it remotely through the Assets interface. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
