I've just recently trained up for a minmatar BCs. I've never flown min ships and was wondering if i could get some suggestions on a setup for small gang pvp. Thanks.

If you really want to fly the cyclone, treat it as a smaller version of the Maelstrom or a 1 legged sleipnir. I can only really see flying this in a gang or as a nano/speed/e-war setup, something along the lines of:
Shield/small gang setup - could well go gang artie too if in a large (20+) gang i guess, [Highs] 5 x Medium t2 ACs with Barrage. 3 x HML t2 (or possibly drop 1 launcher for a gang mod).
[Mids] 1 x Shield Amp or possibly speed mod. 1 x Medium injector (400 cap charges). 2 x Invun t2 hardeners. 1 x L Shield Booster.
[Lows] 3 x Gyro 1 x Dmage control II (or a whatever you fancy/fits)
Rigs: Falloff and shield rigs.
Drones: Rep drones probably a safe bet in a large group, if not the usual.
Above one may not fit due to CPU, may need to play around a bit.
Solo setup - choice of ewar or solo [Highs] 5 x Medium t2 ACs with Barrage. 3 x HAML t2 (or possibly drop 1 launcher for a gang mod).
[Mid] - ewar setup 1 x 24km pt. 1 x MWD II 2-3 x Remote Sensor Damps (Phased Muons if possible) 1 x SB II (possibly? depeding on above choices?)
or [Mid] - tank setup (see above)
[Lows] 2 x OD II 1 x Gyro II 1 x Inertia Stab
Rigs: 2 x Mass Reduction, 1 x Agility rig or falloff rig.
Drones: Damage or ecm, your choice.
Aim on the solo setup is lock, scram and damp whilst using your hopefully high speed to keep distance. If you chose the tank mid setup you will (obviously) be tanking and using your speed to minimise damage/keep range (mini-vaga/sleipnir). Mass reduction rigs are quite expensive, so you could swap out for agility rigs and the inertia stab for a nano. Aim for both nano setups is to stay out of web range.
Thinking about it, the ewar setup could also work well in small gangs too.

cyclone is so much cooler than hurricane ! :P
its definitely a gang ship tho
5x 720 II or 650 II (depends on gang size, but imo 20 is a pretty high number) 3x HML II
1x MWD 1x Large Shield Booster 2x Invul Field II 1x Sensor Booster or Cap Injector or 1pt, depending on situation
2x Gyro 2x whatever, maybe PDS or DCs or something in that direction
requires some decent fitting skills if flown with the longrange guns tho ___________________________________

For a cheapish damage dealer in a gang ive found this works quite well:
5x 720II
Large Booster,Medium Injector, 2xAmp II, Ivuln Field,
3xGyro II,DCU II
em/therm/kinetic resist rigs
It all fits from what i remember with AWU 5, has a decent enough tank and does decent damage.
Or, if you want a speedy tackler version
5x Dual 180 II, 3x Medium Nos II
MWD, Large Booster, 2x Invuln Field, warp disrupter
3x Overdrive, 1x Gyro II
Whatever rigs you fancy, id go resist
Obiously nothing close to being cap stable but the nos help a bit and it has a Scrambler. Or you can drop the scram for an LSE II with no hassle.

hehe.. I have a strange fitting on mine :D
Requires AWU 4, and obv maxed fitting skills.
5 x 425 II 3 x Medium 'Ghoul' NOS
1 x LSE II 1 x Inv Field II 1 x Large Sheild Booster II 1 x Warp Disruptor II 1 x 10mn AB II
1 x Gyro II 2 x Lower power plant manager PDS (fitting) 1 x dmg control II
tbh works quite well, and a good laugh - obv the 425 II tracking sucks, but it can hurt a lot with BC V :)

prolly better off with a MWD and that LSE should be changed to an injector really or a booster amp if cap is not so much of an issue. Also maybe the DC could be changed for another PDS or Gyro. ---------------------- Rank: Tech 1 and a 1/2 cannon fodder

I'm running:
5x d180 II (coz they're cheaper and track better sans web) 3x medium nos (vanilla, since I'm poor)
10mn mwd named 20km large shield booster II invuln field I named large extender
2x gyro II named pds named damage control
With named nos it fits easily, else you might have to switch to low cpu versions of stuff in places.

Agreed, Cyclone is a laughable joke of a Battlecruiser, better off getting a Hurricane.

Edited by: Santa Anna on 10/07/2007 06:56:26 Still playing with cpu a bit on this setup High: 5x 425mm AC T2 1x 50w infectious power system malfunction 1x recon probe launcher
Med: 1x T2 AB 1x 24km scram 3x Damps
Lows: 2x OD 2 1x Nano 2 1x Gyro 2
Rigs 1x probe cycle time 1x damp rig
Drones -mix of neut, ecm, and combat drones. not sure yet.
The idea is to 1) Probe down mission runners 2) Tackle them quickly in deadspace 3) prevent them from fighting back until help arrives and/or kill them myself
Did this a bit with a celestis, but a Cyclone has enough mids and cpu while having more forepower.

edit: I get a bit more than 700m/s in deadspace with middling skills. resume _____ Heat Warfare |

I'm liking an extremely vanilla setup:
5x 220m, 3x medium nos 1x mwd, 1 point, large booster, boost amp, invuln 2x gyro, 2x nano
Would 1x nano, 1x overdrive be better? I'm pretty crap at speed setups (shameful for a mini pilot). ----

I see some good ideas here. Thanks for all the responses. I think i'm gonna try fitting the 425mm first. If i don't like that i'll try something else.

Gank solo setup with a small tank:
Highs: 5x 220 t2 3x dim med nos
Meds: 10mn mwd j5 prot 20k disruptor Invul or amplifier t2 Large booster t2 med cap booster
Lows: 3x gyro t2 1 dcu t2
4x hammerheads t2
problem is: no web. And the tank isn't super either.
