OK - I've searched for this option high and low, but I can't find it.
Some of my corp members are able to transfer an item to me with a little pop-up box. It looks like an instant contract, where they put in the item and I have the opportunity to enter ISK or items in return. The pop up bos has me at the top and I can enter items/ISK, at the bottom is their name, and a list of the items they're giving me. A little tick appears in their portion of the pop-up showing that they've approved the deal and when I accept, a little tick appears on my section.
How is this done??

When docked, go to the tabs at the right hand side and find the list all all players docked. Right click a player and choose trade. Tada!

Thanks - I never thought to right click those players. I was initially trying to trade between alts on the same account - so this won't work.
BUT, as I have 2 accounts, I think I've got a solution:
1. trade from an alt on account A to an alt on account B in same station.
2. then logout account A and login the proposed recipient
3. trade from the alt on account B back to the alt on account A.

Not that I didn't believe this would work, but since I got home from work I tried this out with some skills books.
The transfers worked a treat, and I was able to transfer to my alts on the same account through my intermediary (an alt on another account).

I usually end up ferrying between the three accts (skills trained solely for flying a speed frig) and yeah you can do it the way you tried, if I am in station with my target err trading partner that is what I do, I also SS, jetcan and then send the recipient out to get the SS can.
