There will only be one Banana Torres.
Unless its like SW:G and they don't allow names based on the lead charaters of the show.
In which case I will be called pdshfhu as a tribute to our farming friends.

pvp development has been suspended for now due to a lack of resources to address various bugs, there have been a number of issues with the UI interface that are being worked out. Another big issue has been dealing with the optimizations required to reduce lag, remember lasers in STo aren't like Eve where its a quick shot they are substantial and hence tend to cause lag, factor in your ability to use torps at the same time and you get lag hell.

Speaking of Star Trek games, Bridge Commander was made of epic win, once you replaced all the stock ships with the ones that guy did. -

This is exactly why I will be playing the game. Most of you won't be there for this fact, and that brightens my day. PvP = crap, and whining. You'd all be Starfleet vs Starfleet if it were up to you.
Luckily as someone mentioned we Trekkers/Trekies will sustain it, and that alone will keep it going long after the 'hardcore gamers' have gone becuase there's no PvP, or it's not good enough for them. We're larger in number in terms of older people anyways. We range from the kids, to the people in thier 60's+ So I'm not worried about 'maturity' issues. In fact I probably expect the community after 2 or so years to be one of the better ones out there. No whining about leet skills, and killboards. (Although I reckon being that some of us are really weird or too nerdy, they may get into ethical talk and what is canon vs not canon like nutters.) Myself I'm an athletic geek. But I know enough that Trek is about a better vision for Humnaity (in the Federation anyways) Complete opposite of grim-worlds EVE. hence the lack of PvP. We're got a whole galaxy to deal with, not each other. But I'd rather have that then half the rubbish I see on EVE forums from players. (CCP fix my stuff, whah whah, nerf bat please, why can't I pew pew everyone? etc. Same moaning and groaning, different reasons.)

It wont be worth it. The ST community is not above hacking fellow clan sites, hate speech, bringing lawyers into their disbutes, cheating and being proud of it, etc. Imagine that in the format of a MMO coupled with the fandom typically attached to Star Trek. It wont be a pretty picture.

Playing a single player game on a distant server for a monthly fee is Fail. Epic Fail.
Star Trek is made of these: A) Social/Political Commentary B) Character/Situation-specific drama with no undertones C) Pew Pew
A and B cannot be done in a MMORPG. They've ruled out C.

I really like Star Trek but this will be pretty crappy without pvp, it doesn't have to be forced pvp like eve but without any at all... it'll really suck. I mean who pays a montly fee to just sit there chatting on a 3d version of MSN and grinding up experience for the sake of doing it.
At least in Eve we get the satisfaction of ruining somebodies day

I take it you've never visited the CAOD section of these forums.
