I had a lvl3 agent with qual level 18 that I've done som missions for with no problems, now suddenly he won't talk to me anymore and I need a higher standing with him to be allowed to work for him again. What's the score here? I've done loads of missions for him, now suddenly nothing more.`

Its a knowned bugg
I think you can workaround it by doing a mission for a lvl 1 agent..
Somehow this bug makes your standing dissapear and when you do one mission you get it all back.... Hope this helps

I was about to point you to the sticky thread at the top of the forum explaining this bug, but for some insane reason it's been removed. So I guess we'll have another fifty of these threads, now.

I had the same thing happen several times. It is a bug that sometimes cuts in when your standing changes. I've got round it by doing a mission for a lower level agent, when that is compleed it seems to trip the standing back again.
Sometimes the bug prevents you working with other agents in the same corp. When this happens, doing a mission for another corp in the same race will again free things up.
It has been said that waiting 10-15 minutes will also cause your standings to revert back to normal, but thats not always my experience

I just accept a mission for another corp, and then cancel it, works every time, well yet anyway. -------------- When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this - you haven't. ------------------ (Thomas Edison) |

I've tried every hint everyone has given me, doing missions for other agent of same corp/different corp and all different quallelvels, restarted client, cleared cache, waited 12(!) hours to see if the server could clear it up all by itself and everything else beeing mentioned. But still my agent is gone and my standings went all down on the negative side, and my previous agent says I got too low standing with him and still wont play with me. I am currently training Connections but I can't see that it has raised my standings at all, soon done training to lvl2. A bit frustrated atm.

I currently have a petition for the very same thing. My standing dropped 1.2 for no reason.

Ok, this finally worked. I had to work agentmissions like there's no tomorrow to get my standing with Duvolle all the way up to +0.01 and then my old agent finally wanted to talk to me. Now if he goes negative on me again I'm gonna go medieval on his a** :-)

Edited by: Atinia on 25/01/2004 00:55:37 And then it happened again, now the negative standing got even worse. Papa Smurf, if you are reading this, for me nothing but getting another agent and working it up to a positive standing of 0.01 ever gave me back my old agent. Waiting for 10mins or even 12 hours never helped at all, amongs other things....

PS. Ahhh, and the way it happend was I declined a mission and they there I was. |

By declining a mission, you standing decreased, which must have put it under 0.00, and once under that, the skill connection no longer applies, you need the skill diplomacy instead (and unfortunately, it's not on sale on open market, you can get it from agents thought so, some players must be selling it at insane prices on the market...)

yeah, I know. Though the situation was I had a standing of +0.16 and when I declined it dropped to -0.30(!) And I trained Connections while I was on the positive side with this corp :) Also, I have declined agents before and never ever had a drop of -0.46 all in all, more like -0.07 drop if I declined a mission.

Some missions will drop your standing more than others.
Important - Merc Kill missions will drop it the most, with a standing of around 3 I lost 5% for failing a merc kill mission.

Yes I know, but this was the same missions I dropped that I've dropped with other agents aswell and they only gave me a -0.07 penalty and this was -0.46 :-/ So I think something is not quite right still.

Edited by: Xailia on 25/01/2004 04:41:26 (Edit: Fixed a *definite* typo)
"When standings are being modified by X%, it's not X% of your current value, it's X% of the distance left to max out. So if f.ex. you have 2.0 in standing, a 10% increase is not 0.2 which would take you to 2.2. It's 10% of (10.0 - 2.0), or 0.8, which would take you to 2.8. What this means is that the higher your standing number, the slower it grows. A 9.9 standing is thus unbelievably much better than a 9.8 standing, when compared to f.ex. the diff between 0.0 and 0.1.
Likewise, when you're losing standings, except the max there is -10.0. Thus if you are at +10.0 (theorhetically impossible), and you get a 1% standing loss, it'll carry you down to [+]9.8. Real bad news, compared to if you were at 0.0 or -9.0." - Papa Smurf (Agent Q&A Thread)

And this isn't a bug? As in the example from +10 to -9.8?? Ok I study History, I gave up math the first chance I got cause I suck at it but this sounds weird even to me. I need a smoke.

I think that's a typo... +10.0 to +9.8
Let me do some calculations...

If you got a drop of -0.46 from +0.16, it would have been a -4.527% standing change.
Check your standing transactions with your agent's corp. (Go to you char sheet standings tab, right click the corp -> Transactions)
