Well, according to the patch notes, that logon new char was fixed, and if idd it is not, using that fault is a game exploit, and you should petition him.
Carlsberg dont make Eve Pilots, but if they did, i wouldnt be one of them.

Maybe if we missed him I'd petition him, but since we got him, it seems to be working. The best test is to have 2 characters, one in a dread that goes into siege mode, another watching, log off the dread and login an alt of the same account and see what happens.

Couple things i have noticed...If a pilot logs before he decloaks at a gate you can get aggro on him, however unless you have enough damage to pop him in 30 seconds he will disappear.
If the pilot logs back into the game at any time ...could be minutes later, could be hours later, his aggression timer from when you hit him after he logged starts. IF they do the log in / log off trick to check system even if no other pilot touches him only sees him in local, the previous aggro from when he came through gate keeps him in space for 15 minutes.
Keep that in mind all especially when dealing with Isk farmers.....IF you are a scan probe master, you can get aggro on him before he disappears.
You have to be fast and it can be hit or miss sometimes...but thats what good about isk farmers...lots of them around and multiple opportunities on each of them daily allowing for lots of practice.
After aggro and disappear, leave system for a few minutes and come back....he will probably will have logged back in and log back out when you come in local. You then have 10-15 minutes to find and kill him. He thinks hes safe but hes not.
The logoff trick with logging into another character on the same account in unreliable. Works sometimes however in my tests, however not all the time which leads me to believe that the freighter pilot did indeed log off before he decloaked it just took local time to catch up.

Could someone else confirm this? (Will take a while before I get two of my alts on same grid).
Sometime before Revelations patch X I did test this. By my results logging your another char on the accound does not make aggressed and scrambled main character disappear (even allowed me to happily to remote repair my other char).
Think you should bug report the issue Trebor, assuming 'just' means post-latest-patch.
