Hey! As you all know, there's a disease spreading in the jovian population... Now, I had some ideas about them... Now that the Chapter of Revelations is done (still needs some fixing, but I hope that all the improvements are in the game and no more major messup will be brought in...), we'll probably be looking forward towards Tech3 in a future expansion, so why don't we involve our sometimes heard of but never seen friends, the jovians into that? Imagine that:
There are jovian agents all around the galaxy, offering missions like "defend the research installation", "Bring research material from X to Y" - all in their desperate tries to find a cure for their disease. Maybe even a Kill mission that says "that person has valuable gene material that might give us a clue on how to solve our problems with the cure... However, he refused to give us a sample, but the value he holds is too high. Please, go and get a sample from him. (or better, get his whole corpse)"... As reward from the LP you'll be able to get some items like Faction/Named Items that boost the chance to invent a Tech3 Item, and for lots and lots of LP you might even be able to get one of these "powerful" Jovian ships... Well, here's the thing: They won't need the skill Jove Frigate, Jove Industrial, Jove whatever anymore, but all four races' Skills (Frigates, Cruisers, Industrials, whatever) on level 5. They draw a (very limited) bonus from these skills, but they won't be shown openly in the info. Just the "Very little is known about jovian ships" will be shown in the fist page... Now, make the Wraith and Specter an equivalent to an assault ship and an interceptor, the Visitant can stay as it is (1.25% speed and 1.25%cargo per race per skill level [so that all level 5's will have about the same impact as a racial transporter with level 5]?), have the Phantom become a heavy attack Cruiser... Well, the Eidolon needs to be reviewed to be in line with the other Battleships...
Well, what will that mean in the end... Tech3 might need the Jovians, and I offer a path on that you can lead them back into the game. Some of their Corporations are spread out throughout the galaxy, all it needs are some jovian Agents with some nice missions to save the jovian Race... And come on, you allready have the jovians as a race included into the game - most of the GM's are jovians!

I think theres still one more Rev patch in the works, actually.
Anyway Im still waiting on CCP to give me something useful to do with the jove standing so many of us actually competed for a couple years back. So I support anything that involves making Jove more than a bunch of agentless gallente stations and an exclusive CCP resort spa. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Revelations is a 3-part patch.
Current plans for tech 3 is making it overload/heat resistant. Unoverloaded less or equal to T2, overloaded equal or better than T2, with more cycles before it breaks down.
As for bringing the Jovians in-game, I think CCP has some pretty detailed ideas about that already, having read the short stories and chronicles.

Edited by: Eventy on 14/07/2007 00:13:40 I love your ideas above. Speaking of bringing the Jovian's back .....
... everyone knows that Jove space exists, but is unreachable (such as systems like N-FKXV and 6-QXE6). I think the way Jove space should be reintroduced is jump gates that can only be found using Astrometrics.
Of course they could be static hidden, which means even those without the skills could trade book marks, but still imagine having to use astrometrics to find a hidden gate that takes you to Jove space.
This idea even works with the Jove storyline where they removed (or hid) access to their space.
Cheers

I like Eventy's idea!
Okay, let's see what revelations III brings... Lots of bugs that occupy the coders for another few months...
But hey, maybe we can get one of the GM's on our side!

If you read the story about jovians alot of them died of depression. You can consider new players as jovians because they quit after the first month due to the learning curve.

Well, that depression is a result of the fact that through genetic engineering their DNA-structure has been severely damaged... I was thinking about an attempt to repair this damage...
Kimish, what mission lag? I never experienced any lag when there were less than 27.500 people on the servers... After that the servers seem to beginn running close to their capacity...

sure jove ships are powerfull but not nessesarily as so as the ones curently being used by CCP on some events. beceause some of those are just overpowered by an extreme degree.. for example.. there was a frigate that could have 6-8 torps fitted and bigger shields than the jove's BS

I know... The Eidolon needs some review with the stats... But the GM's usually use the polaris ships, those are alot different than the jovian ones...
