I'm currently playing the 14-day trial of EVE and took a look at the subscriptions pages. One thing that bothers me is that the game is effectively much more expensive in Ç than in dollars. Dollar/Ç exchange rate seems to be fixed on a 1:1 exchange rate which seems quite an odd decision to me, especially compared to other MMORPGs.
While 14,95$ are quite normal for a MMORPG, 14.95Ç are IMO a bit pricey.

The current rate euro:dollar is about 0.72:1
So 14,95$ would be 10,87Ç. Most MMORPGs charge between 9.95Ç and 12.99Ç here in Germany.
I stumbled upon this when I clicked the payment button for the extended trial (19.95$) that suddenly changed into 19.95Ç on the next page.
I'm not crying about a couple of euros, just asking...

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's:
1. for simplicity sake
and
2. VAT
We don't have VAT in the US. Most states do have a state sales tax, but it's usually not applied outside of that state (so if you buy something online sold from North Carolina and you live in NC, you'd pay the tax, but if you lived in Virginia, you wouldn't).

At this moment, 1.00Ç = $1.37.
14.95Ç = $20.54.
So, it's not insignificant.

The first payment will be larger for new accounts.
You will pay more because of your taxes that are applied to things like this. You can buy an american time card at the american $ value of course that could be considerd tax evasion.
But either way the first payment is suppose to be $19.95 then after that $14.95. The first payment your "buying" the account/game.

I am also on the trail account, just minutes left, however I would be will to pay in ú, Ç or $ if the D&^ed accounts page worked!
