you need to setup a windows partition. Eve does not run on OSX.

Actually, it does work on a Mac if you use either CrossOver or Parallels.
I regularly play Eve on my iMac using CrossOver. You only have two issues: no game sound and a minor chopping of bottom 10 pixels, (which you can work around using ctrl-tab).

im running it on a macbookpro, yes, on boot camp on a windows partition. there is no native mac client. running on Parallels will probably be alot slower then running under windows.

I heard playing windows games on a Macbook Pro using bootcamp overheats things pretty fast making all vents to go crazy. What's your experience? I am thinking of getting myself a new Macbook Pro hoping to be able to play EVE on it.
EVE is the only thing I still use my PC for.

Well it's definitely coming to Mac OS X, but there's no word about when. I run Eve on my Mac using bootcamp, and occasionally the new Parallels 3 when I don't care about the speed, although it's playable.

it gets hot. anything that ramps up the graphics card will have the macbookpro heat up. the last couple days when its 95 and humid and im trying to play eve the thing has been an inferno, and it rebooted once from the memory overheating. now i make sure i have a fan/ac on when it gets hot out. definitely worth it though, as i hardly ever use my desktop pc anymore to game, and i need a mac laptop for graphics work.

Getting your MacBook Pro overheated isnt a good thing, it even rebooted! Let's hope its true EVE will soon be available for Mac too. Running EVE under OSX certainly will keep temperature within limits.

My first attempt at running EVE from Windows XP running within a Parallels VM (same install of XP that runs under Boot Camp) was a failure. The application launches, but then the splash screen goes away and the process hangs.
This is on a 2.4Ghz MacBook Pro, 4GB memory (1.5 dedicated to XP in Parallels). OSX 10.4.10

Parallels 3 only supports DirectX 8... so if eve uses 9 features, they will fail.
Bootcamp runs fine, I have no overheating issues either. My macbook pro (latest santarosa), gets that hot running a 3d game in osx .. the entire line of mbp's get that hot.
It's the way they are designed sadly. According to Apple that's normal because the entire chassis of the MBP acts as a heatsink (it even has a warning in the manual to not place on your legs for fear of burns)
