I like Stalin quotes. He was a bad man but he has some really great quotes. To start us off, I'll go first with my quote.
Ideas are far more powerful than guns. We don't allow our enemies to have guns, why should we allow them to have ideas? Joseph Stalin (1879 - 1953)

Great example of Sophist philosophy:
"Traditional morality is just a clever way for the weak masses to shakle the strong individual" -- Callicles
Thrasymachus had a nice gem too:
“Justice is nothing other than the advantage of the stronger”

" By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher. " - Socrates
" Love is reckless; not reason. Reason seeks a profit. Love comes on strong, consuming herself, unabashed. Yet, in the midst of suffering, Love proceeds like a millstone, hard surfaced and straightforward. Having died of self-interest, she risks everything and asks for nothing. Love gambles away every gift God bestows. Without cause God gave us Being; without cause, give it back again. " - Rumi (substitute universe for God if it offends your sensibilities )
" I am not young enough to know everything. " " How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being. " " We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. " - Oscar Wilde

sometimes i think Menninger had a look in these forums (through some amazing Einsteinesque Quantum Time Travel machine) when he said
The voice of the intelligence is drowned out by the roar of fear. It is ignored by the voice of desire. It is contradicted by the voice of shame. It is biased by hate and extinguished by anger. Most of all it is silenced by ignorance.
then again, it does fit right into the human psyche me thinks. All time favorite quote for me

"DragonflyBlade21> A woman has a close male friend. This means that he is probably interested in her, which is why he hangs around so much. She sees him strictly as a friend. This always starts out with, you're a great guy, but I don't like you in that way. This is roughly the equivalent for the guy of going to a job interview and the company saying, You have a great resume, you have all the qualifications we are looking for, but we're not going to hire you. We will, however, use your resume as the basis for comparison for all other applicants. But, we're going to hire somebody who is far less qualified and is probably an alcoholic. And if he doesn't work out, we'll hire somebody else, but still not you. In fact, we will never hire you. But we will call you from time to time to complain about the person that we hired."

I have a massive text file with hundreds of quotes that I use from time to time These are a random selection.
John Milton: Paradise Lost: Bk.i. Line 261. Here we may reign secure, and in my choice. To reign is worth ambition, though in hell: Better to reign in hell, than serve in heav'n.
Robert Frost: I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
1995 Republican congress chant CONTROL THE INTERNET!!
Peter Almanac It's hard to create humor because of the unfair competition from the real world.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and consciencious stupidity.
Peter Steiner On the Internet.....Nobody knows your a dog
Clifford Stoll The internet is a telephone system that's gotten uppity
Because i believe it so whole heartedly my favourite quote in all the wide world is:
John Milton: Paradise Lost: Bk.i. line 254. The mind is it's own place; and in itself can create a heav'n of hell and a hell of heav'n.

Some classic Groucho Marx lines:
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five. From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it.
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.
I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER.
I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it. Military intelligence is a contradiction in terms. Women should be obscene and not heard.

Sorry but if we are talking quotes there has to be some from the blackadder series of comedies. Please see below
Red Baron: How lucky you English are to find the toilet so amusing. For us, it is a mundane and functional item. For you it is the basis of an entire culture.
Blackadder: Bloody explorers, ponce off to Mumbo Jumbo land, come home with a tropical disease, a suntan and a bag of brown lumpy things, and Bob's your uncle, everyone's got a picture of them in lavatory.
George: My head... oh, my head... feels like the time I was initiated into the Silly Buggers Society at Cambridge. I misheard the rules and tried to push a whole aubergine up my earhole.
Blackadder: Everything goes over your head, doesn't it, George? You should go to Jamaica and become a limbo dancer.
Blackadder: Baldrick, believe me, eternity in the company of Beelzebub and all his hellish instruments of death will be a picnic compared to five minutes with me and this pencil if we can't replace this dictionary.
Blackadder: We live in an age where illness and deformity are commonplace, and yet, Ploppy, you are, without a doubt, the most repulsive individual I have ever met. I would shake your hand, but I fear it would come off.
Blackadder: Don't be absurd. Such activities are totally beyond my mother. My father only got anywhere with her because he told her it was a cure for diarrhea.
George: Now I've got my lovely fire I'm happy as a Frenchman who's invented a pair of self-removing trousers.
Blackadder (to Percy): You ride a horse rather less well than another horse would. Your brain would make a grain of sand look large and ungainly and the part of you that can't be mentioned, I am reliably informed by women around the Court, wouldn't be worth mentioning even if it could be.
Blackadder: They do say, Mrs M, that verbal insults hurt more than physical pain. They are, of course, wrong, as you will soon discover when I stick this toasting fork into your head.
Just to name a few
