Ok i think its a bit silly how a bs is like 5 times bigger than a cruiser and about 50 times bigger than a shuttle but is still all are only operated by 1 person.
i think it would be cool to see each ship have a maximum number of crew it can hold on the attributes page. then on the market you can hire your crew. each crew member will be specified in a area; weapons, sheilds, engineering, navigation, mechanics and so on. and they give a slight bonus' to systems.
So a megathorn has a crew of 500, u can fit it with as many of any type of crew u like. but to keep ur normal ship operation u need so many of each type. if u fill ur ship with all weapon special crew u loose % on every other stat. Something like that anyway, i think that would make it more realistic than 1 man and his ship!
Oh and maybe when u get podded or eject from your ship your crew ejects too hehe!

The reason only one person mans our ships is because of pod technology. It allows a human to interface with a ships systems through is brain, giving instant reaction and control to every part of it. This is why there are no crews.

how many time does this have to be said.
ALL ships HAVE crew.
pod technology reduced crew - it DOES NOT eliminate it.
you think i man could fly a 1km+ ship??

Everybody reads that and assumes its meant for all ships, i even heard ideas like the window rows are because ships with pods are just remodified for pod captains, total crap.
Everything bigger than a frigate needs crew!!!
(maybe indies dont, dunno there, but cruisers and battleships need crew)
So its a good idea :D

They had stats back in beta... dunno where they ran off to.
Frigates and Indies have a crew of 1, you.
Some small cruisers had a crew of 1 as well, I think the blackbird did...
Most cruisers and battleships had a crew anywhere from 100-2000 or so.

That would be very fun to be able to hire crew with different mods (weapons, shields, etc like mentioned). That would further the customization and individuality of different players playing styles and add a little more spice to the game. Maybe even have Entertainment crew to up Social/NPC interaction for agent runners or other non-combat features for crew?
Hey, even invent a training program to whip those Homeless into shape and get them to be useful crew unstead of just getting sent to R&D agents to be eaten, hehe.

well for most ship you need crew to do the routing stuff - keeping engines in epak condition, loading weapons, manning the sensors etc...
these ships are BIG...
a punisher is about the size of a 747-400!!!

hehe another thought on this too. maybe u could use certin factons crew which gives u a bonus with that faction. like a pirates faction or concord's. maybe even use all slaves and become a slave lord hehe!
Fly the flag for the Minmatar fleet by holding their crew, that would be cool!
