Hello Pirates with missiles launcher (kestrel) are very dangerous, is there any defense against theses missiles launchers, out of using defense missiles?, even with 2 in autorepeat, with more than 1 missile launcher vessels i'm in troubles (i'm in a merlin for now)

Either pack more missiles than they do (Kestrel) or get in too close for them to really get ya.
Other missile defences are Smartbombs, but during their charge time missiles can get through, and if your skills aren't high, they have an activation delay. They take up a high slot, so you'd probably only use them on ships like the Punisher.

Actually,
"Defender missiles' are designed just for this, defending aginst incoming missiles.
Load up a launcher (there small) and just clk the launcher when/if you get shot at by missiles. Don't know when you are?..just press it once every couple of secs. If you are targetted and have inc missiles it will shoot, and destroy them, (one for one). If there are none inc, your foe either has none, OR they have not shot them at you yet. you will get a msg saying "no sutable targets in range of xxxxx launcher"..
They work against all forms of missile targets,rockets to torpedos) and are very cheap. You do need defender missile skill tho...
( i sell defender missile bpcs for a fair price.. )

I believe he meant aside from Defender Missiles.

some people , specialy knife fighters , prefer smartbombs .kinda tricky to use tho , watch out not to hit a gate/station ;) -------------------------

Ad far Kestrel NPC rats go, no need to bother with smart bombs or even defenders. These particular rats use light missiles/rockets with a maximum range of about 16-17km. I suggest equipping a couple of 150mm rail guns (or their equivalent range wise in other turret categories) with either Tungstein or Iron ammo for addded range (or once again their equivalents for other turret categories). Set yourself to orbit the closest rat at 20km and shoot them up from safe distance.

I wish I read this a week ago it would have saved me a lot of experimentation. :)
This is pretty much the tatic I use in my merlin, my basic setup is two lanchers with heavy (widowmaker) missiles and 2 x 150 rifles with tungsten ammo.
When doing missions I warp to 30K and then set an orbit at 25K, as long as you dont go under 20K you dont get shot.
The only thing you have to watch is that when fighting multiple targets you dont get distracted and let the ones you are not orbiting get two close, if they do get close warp away as they will still fire on you once you go back past the 20 K mark.
As for missiles I find the hvy windows makers great for doing mission kills as one will almost completly take out a 2000 isk bounty NPC and two will weaken the 5K NPC's to the point where you can finish them with the rail guns. (I am buy the missiles at 450 isk each, so still making a profit and that does not count the loot or the mission bonus).
