They (E-On Magazine) should have clarified: "the most dangerous systems in Eve FOR SHUTTLES AND NOOB SHIPS.
Raw data is meaningless without context. Maybe they should have also included value of the ships destroyed in ISK as wel. Then maybe areas like Rancer and Egghelende wouldn't be so high up on the list.

I think it would be great if CCP would assign a 'combat value' to every ship/module in Eve. Then there would be an offical yardstick to measure each kill, with respect to how dangerous it would be to attack it.
All non combat ships would have a value of zero: shuttles, haulers, noob ships, etc. All ships without any combat modules fitted would recieve a value of zero: battleships outfitted for mining, unfitted ships, etc. etc.
Combat fitted ships would be rated according to their size, with frigs establishing the base values, cruisers adding a factor of ten over frigs, a factor of ten for BCs over cruisers, and ten more on top of BCs for battleships. That's right: a BS kill would be worth 10,000x more than a frig kill.
AFs would get a 5x multiplier over standard frigs, and HACs and Recons would get a 5x multiplier over standard cruisers. Command ships would get a 5x multiplier over BCs.
Capital ships in the Carrier/Dread classes would get a multiplier of 30x over battleships, making them 300,000x more valuable a kill as frigs.
Motherships would get a multiplier of one million, and Titans one billion.
As for modules, actual weapons fitted would count for the majority of the points, and ECM and ECM related modules would have the highest value for mid slot modules. Any ECM/damage related low slot modules would have the most value, with all other 'support' modules (propulsion, tanking, utility modules like NOS) ranking a distant second (like 20% of offensive mod value).
Drones that are *actually in the drone bay* and not simply in cargo (cargo actually never counts towards the kill value) will also add to the total kill value of the ship.
Heck, I should have someone build a killboard around this concept. I think it would be vastly more indicitive of real killing performance than any current killboard I've ever seen.

The thing that bothers me about this post is that here we have Tiller taking all the credit for every pirate corp in those Heimatar and Metropolis systems. It's just silly. Crimson was camping the Jel gate in Egg back when you were funding Ginger's carrier losses, bro. Stop acting like you run the only pirate outfit in the game.

Rancer/amamake/egghelende has always been chokepoints, and there are many more pirate corps and alliance in the area than just klepto. Claiming you guys were the only corp responsible is ignorant.
MLTOV alone has 2537 kills in egg, and 2272 kills in amamake. Not even counting famous corps such as SNIGG and Tundragons who camped Rancer and Amamake daily or any other average pirate corp.

I believe Those stats are updated periodically in each new issue of Eon magazine. If this is the case, the current statistics have no bearing on which Corps did what in those systems, 6 months or 1 year or 2 years ago.
Edit: If its the overall statistics since the inception of Eve, then of course your point is valid.

Wow, 5 klepto bumps. Nice, we killed 70 haulers and shuttles in about 45 minutes in Ingunn--not counting capsules--last night.
Guess what, no smart bombs were used, no motherships, no capitals at all.
The difference between my corp and yours? We don't even report these kills. :-/
