I've been trying to get my head around the various considerations when choosing ammo and missiles for my ships. I know about the 4 different types of damage (explosive, kinetic, thermal, EM) and I am hoping someone can point me to a chart or PDF that would show the various types of ammo/missiles side by side for comparison. I am looking for something I can print out and hold in my hand. Right now I have to flip through Show Info windows in the market in order to figure out what type of ammo does which kind of damage and how much. That gets to be a problem as I'm looking through several types and eventually start thinking "Ok, so I want to equip some explosive type ammo.... which one was that again?" -------------- Indecision is a terrible thing.
...or is it?

For missile types, here's a handy chart:
If the missile's warhead is | It does Blue - EM Red - Thermal Yellow - Explosive Black - Kinetic
I'm afraid I don't know of any chart which lists damage types and names of individual missiles. You may have to either memorize the information or make your own chart. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

On the subject of hybrid charges, they all do kinetic and thermal, as was stated above. The difference in hybrid ammo comes wholly from range and damage ratio. Close range ammo such as antimatter will do a crapload more damage, and generally more thermal damage than long range ammos such as iridium or tungsten, which also primarily deal kinetic

WoW! Thanks for all the great info. Its what I'm looking for even if its not in a chart. I guess I might have to make my own. But I'm wondering... you didnt just type up these lists, correct? I assume you just copied and pasted them from somewhere... Can you tell me what your source is? -------------- Indecision is a terrible thing.

I normally just use EVEMon, in the skill plan mode. The items window is much more responsive than EVE's, and comparing multiple items is easier too. If you open up an ammunition category (say, Ammunition and Charges -> Projectile Ammo -> Standard Ammo -> Small), click on the first item in the list then Shift+click on the last item in the list, the info window will show the attributes of all the ammos side-by-side. Additionally, only those attributes that change (e.g. range bonus, the damage types) will be highlighted. This is probably not that far off the chart you were envisioning.
Additionally, if NPCs are firing missiles at me (and I get the 'Bloodclaw Light Missile hits you for xx damage') I'll Alt-Tab to EVEMon, type 'bloo' in the search box, and have my answer (kinetic) within a second or two.

Can you link it? Or give me an idea about which website you got it from? -------------- Indecision is a terrible thing.

Google is your friend - the first hit on that list has an ammo chart that breaks down the various damage that projectile ammo does. (They don't have one for hybrid or energy weapons presumably because these ammos alsways do the same types of damage and you select your type depending on the range you want.)

I copied a chart of ammo types for hybrid weapons from these forums a while back. here it is:
Quote: HIGH DAMAGE, LOW RANGE Antimatter Plutonium Uranium Thorium Lead Iridium Tungsten Iron LOW DAMAGE, HIGH RANGE
Lead gives no range modifier, and gives a -50% capacitor usage. Thorium also gives a very nice reduction in capacitor usage. The ones with lower damage/higher range than Lead also gives reasonable capacitor useage reductions.
All hybrid ammo does kinetic/thermal damage.

I typed that list up myself. I didn't even realize I could have googled it.
Suppose I should check Google next time. But I'm glad that you enjoy the list, and if you have any other questions just ask. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |
