Is it me or do we seem to be getting alot of necros?
CCP couldn't you just autolock anything over 6months old?

Because anything posted over six months ago is obviously utterly worthless and without merit.

because anything that has had no activity in over 6 months is out of date and a new thread should be created.

Two main reasons for the necros
1. Ship fitting stickies point to "old" fits, even if they are valid and/or can be improved upon. Given that they haven't been "forked" by ISD not much can be done about it and you can't really blame people who necro those. Locking these threads without ISD creating new ones would just create more spam as people start new "how do I fit my raven" threads.
2. The search option is *really* poor. You search for something and it returns hits from 2004 first and people just reply without realising it's a necro. Fix is to only use eve-search.com instead for searching, Compare and contrast searching for "monkey" in the eve standard forum search and the same search in eve-search.com.
eve online search for monkey: (from forums page, no individual forum selected)
Result 1. Some random archive by code monkey.
Result 2. Recuitment post from 2006
Result 3. Autopilot question from 2003!!!!!!11
eve-search result for monkey: (all subforums option)
Result 1. 2007-07 post about new ship class
Result 2. 2007-07 post about killboards
Result 3. 2007-07 post about badgers
etc.
Using the crappy eve based one will result in many more necros.
