A state of war declared, 48 hours in advance of hostile action.
Member of opposing corp in my sights, i fire, i kill, i get killed by sentries
This is my first aggressive act of war, so i expected the sentries to leave me alone, but ho hum i'm an Apoc down for my troubles.
I have petitioned, but no response as of yet

Are you sure the war has started. What says it in the corp window and are you sure that particular person was in the corp you are at war with at that given time. A lot of people change corp when they are not geared up for battle (a bit low if you ask me  ).

yeah, that's frkn low, but, u can't leave corp unless you are docked

Once you have created the Vote and voted you then need to action it before the war is real.
So you may have just done 2 of the 3 steps.
ie.
1> Create Vote
2> Vote
so now you need to do step 3
3> Implement Vote

make sure the person you are firing on is encased in an ORANGE box. that means they are fair game. BUT also watch for the scumbag tactics of placing an alt in a different corp beside the warring player, any splash dmg will make the sentry guns fire on you.

Hmmm... seems like someone forgot to "Apply" the sactionable action, huh ?!?
I too declared war and then waited 24 hrs before I hit the button to Apply the Sanctionable Action and then the war began with the reddish color on all the victims ship brackets in space... If you don't see red then you cannot fight - hehe. 
No such signature...

No...She has a point..It happened to me as well. State of War Declared, placed into effect (enacted) and I still got smacked by the Sentry guns.
Only happened once though.

lets just remove sentry guns . concord and the whole lot out of the game .introduce a full corp pvp system instead of the anarchic securitey based nonesense in the game atm . pvp corps could then happily declare war on each other and have fun and leave the rest of us too do what we like doing .
