I noticed in my little nook of the woods people are placing buy orders on modules right at perfect refine prices. And example:
You can refine module X for 1M ISK the buy orders are placed at 990K ISK.
This makes little sense to me. Especially since if they're not refining the modules they must be reselling them. But then again Module X may only sell for 1.1Mil ISK.
Whats got me a little confused is that the closest buy order under them is like 300K ISK. I understand if your skills allow you to break others buying ability. But I would figure playing the bidding war and having 50 units @ 500k profit would be better than 100 units @ 50k profit. Its one thing to dominate a market. Its another to ruin your profit especially over the span of a few months. I can understand running someone off your market but usually you stop after a given period of time.

The Tech 1 minerals market is very very close between buy and sell order prices, so people will play on very thin margins to get minerals cheap. Getting some tritanium for 1.2 isk/unit when buy orders are 1.3 is always worth it if the buy order is in-station, regardless of the volume.

It's also possible someone just wants to destroy the market for others.

I would agree if the margins are thin already like in Trit's case. But when the margin is thick by multiples it doesn't make sense.
I could understand making a thin margin for others but if your buying a module for refining purposes at market sell order value of the mins it doesn't make sense. I could understand if your undercutting the mineral market by buying cheap modules and refining them. But this guy is buying modules for the price you could buy the mins straight off the market with no sell order. (ex: Trit sells for 2.5 but the highest buy order is at 1.3. This guy is buying the modules for an equivalent of the 2.5 sell order)

Bear in mind that, depending on the modules, if they're planning to ship out to 0.0 then they're buying already compressed minerals. That said, it'd need to be high volume to be worth the hassle I'd have thought.
