I look at this and think is 50gb enough for my mounthly dose of eve. c&c3, planetside and bf2142?? and then the rest of the family on top of this with msn myspace etc??

i used to use plus.net when i lived in the UK, i got to say i never had 1 problem with them. they did have limits on the downloads, think it was also 50gb. but i only use msn, irc, eve and other games and i never got anywhere near to reaching the limit.
i personally would recommend them. my mom and dad still use them and some of my family.
thats my 2isk worth if your interested

So even playing all i play lol i prob will not reach the limit with the rest of the family added on. i may be able to play the game i pay for :) thx. So a 50gb download limit won't present a problem.

Unless you download lots 50gb is plenty.
Chances are you can get a hardware firewall which will monitor your internet usage. I do download plenty of stuff and stil fall within 50gb

I am on the 20gb a month with plusnet, and I have just finished first month with them. I left all large downloading till after midnight (they dont measure bandwidth usage between 12-8am) and I am under my limit. Service seems good so far.

Actually plusnet off peak times are from midnight-4pm. That said, they do still monitor bandwidth usage between those times, and they have a fixed limit of 20gb a month in peak time (4pm-midnight). If you still go crazy with the off-peak downloading they WILL e-mail you about it, they just don't have fixed limits that they get annoyed at.
We've been with plusnet for a couple of years now but it's getting to the point that it's ridiculous. We've been told that we'd been gotten upgraded yet were still stuck with the same speeds for months, and just last week after suffering terrible 17kb/s download rates for over 5 days (which we assumed were to do with the floods in Yorkshire near where we are) it turns out they'd actually got us down as having a 131kbs line! Edit: Even worse, when we complained about it they claimed that everything was working normally and just fine, while slyly fixing it a few hours afterwards. Why didn't they just admit they were wrong?
If anyone can recommend an ISP with good service and with NO LIMITS (yes, they're still limits no matter how far you place them in the small print, got that BT?!) then I would LOVE to hear about them.

For an ISP with no limits you'll be looking to pay ú70 a month or more.
I suggest the Entanet resellers like UKFSN or ADSL24
ADSL24 UKFSN
For not too much a month, the off peak limits are massive, so you could just schedule to download then, or you could even buy a NAS with a built in torrent downloader.

Thanks very much, it seems ADSL24 is exactly what we're looking for!

I'm probably a bit late here, but for what it's worth I've been using Zen for 3 years now (since I moved away from somewhere with cable). I've found them to be professional and reliable. They're not the cheapest people out there, but I guess you get what you pay for. They also don't do any of the things that I hate in a broadband provider, chief of which is saying "UNLIMITED! (Fair use applies)".
Bear in mind, however, that they don't (at least in my exchange) do local loop unbundling. This means that in some respects you're still at the mercy of BT and their highly skilled ADSL engineers.

That's wrong. Off peak is 12-9am, Peak time is 9am-12am.

When I used to be with AOL nearly 2 years ago I had no limits with them. I went with Pipex because the AOL software was worse than a virus; but I ended up sacrificing my unlimited broadband for a 15GB cap. So I'm thinking of either changing ISP or changing to Pipex's unlimited version; the only problem with Pipex's unlimited version is that I get charged for leaving my old subscription, plus I get charged for starting the new one. So that's ú50 on one ISP in one day. Pain in the butt. So I'm seriously thinking about switching to Zen.
