If anyone has watched any of the community made movies, they have some great galactic music playing in the backgroud. Does anyone have any good places they go to get this stuff? If so, what do you search on to pull it up?

Edited by: Malikon on 26/01/2004 21:38:53 Edited by: Malikon on 26/01/2004 21:38:24 check tower records website (or amazon, etc.)...look under electronica for the following sub-genres: ambient/trance/techno/downtempo/trip hop/jungle. tower's selection is pretty mainstream (insofaras certain electronica can be considered mainstream); they don't generally have the harder to find good stuff, but if you are new to the genre than tower will have enough to get you going.
you want hard to find stuff...go to throb.com and look under electronica/trip-hop. more pricey but better selection.
there are some good websites also...check out: http://triphop-music.com
groups i'd recommend: dining rooms, thievery corporation, dj shadow, dj cam, bonobo, massive attack, ltj bukem, pelican city (which is really, really hard to find).
also check out groovetech.com-site has archived dj sessions grouped by sub-genre...good stuff.

If you have winamp you can go to shoutcast.com and listen to Dropzone, Groove Salad, or the DIGITALLY IMPORTED ambient station to find some stuff you like. In fact, you can listen to it all day :-)

I especially liked the first song, "ICY 401 SERVICE UNAVAILABLE". After listening to it for 10 minutes I started thinking it was a bit slow on the uptake though :/

True :) But you can also load up Realone player, look for stations, and you cna have a huge choice of streaming music to your liking. Thats how i do it anyway. Digitally Imported is cool, and Trance FM has a lot of good music too.
