Pair of days ago, i was in low sec with a celestis and a pirate attacked me with a crow.
He literally left me speechless for his speed... he was going 8,6km/sec .. i was thought that after the nano-changes that an intie could reach at best 4-5km/sec not over 8,6!!!
Is this a common speed for an intie pilot ( and well trained char) or it had some uber faction implants and faction mwd's?
before someone think is a whine ... i'm just curious.. i knew exactly how to counter him ( in a tech1 cruiser, lol). I have nothing to whine. i'm just curious.
If someone wonder that's happened: i dampered him with 3 damperers so he everytime lost his lock and i was able to warp when i would. He not dared to come in range of my nosses. So after a bit of fun i bailed him and warped out ( there was not any point to be there.. even light drones cant reach that speed). :)

8km/s crow is "deadmeat" setup. My inty-catcher sabre goes 10km/s and thats pretty slow.
I guess the crow could hit 18-20km/s.

Um... thats not that fast for a crow. Taranis is one of the slower interceptors, and mine goes almost 8k per second. A corpmates vagabond goes over 9k per second, post nerf.

2 rigs, couple of speed implants, t2 mwd/OD's. Overload the mwd, and it goes like 8km/s out of gang.

8km/sec in a Crow is quite reasonable for a moderately pimped set-up. With implants and rigs you can push that well over 12km/sec.

Relevant Nav Skills maxed -Acceleration Control, Navigation, Evasive Maneuvering and Spaceship Command for orbit speed- t2 polycarbon engine housings for the rigs, Domination ODs in lows, maybe a nano.
HG Snake Set, Shaqil's Speed Enhancer, Zor's Custom Navigation Hyperlink (I think that's what its called), 5% MWD speed boost implant.
Maxed Claymore in gang.
Strong X-instinct booster.
Gistii-A type 1mn MWD
Overload MWD
Now you'll go fast.

And cost about 5 billion for implants and mods :)
Speed fitting isnt cheap if you want to do it right.

OK what about a fast and relatively cheap crow set up?
The implants especially concern me. If u have a whole load of snakes plugged into an inti clone then u are likely to be only endangered by other intis which, like your own inti will have a lightening fast locking speed and will pod u as many times as not if u happen to be outgunned or out classed.
Just make sure that u can back up your speed with a decent amount of common sense and no small amount of firepower.
I will continue to use crows with throwaway set-ups which are relatively cheap, do about 6-7k and u wont cry over losing the thing. I also think that you can still tackle and engage effectively at that speed.

Ok here is mine. Note the cost of this setup versus the extra-expensive ones.
3 x Arby standard
1 x t2 MWD 1 x t2 Warp Disruptor 1 x Micro cap booster w/ 100s
3 x t2 overdrive
2 x Polycarbon rigs
Implants: CY-1, MY-1(the hardwirings)
Not so expensive, not so cheap, but will do about 9k+ depending on skills. With this cap booster setup you keep 16 charges in your cargo and you can keep a large target scrambled, orbit fast enough to not take damage for about 6 minutes. Unless he jumps through a gate or your gang/you cant kill him in 6 minutes, you will have to warp away.

Thanks, this is similar to my set-up minus the imlants which i will take a look at.

You will be pleased to see those implants are quite affordable and add much needed pimpness.

Sadly that is probably the best use for that high-slot.

I hit 10km/s Solo with no Snakes, without overloading, so 8 is pretty easy.
