Make the cloaking device to change the cap recharge to 0, then put a activation cost of x cap/sec and done, now you can't be AFK in a cloaking ship.

putting a cloak on a ship gives you allready a lot of drawbacks, so whats the point of nerfing it further? that people cant go to toilete anymore?

"How to balance cloaks"
They are balanced, the work the way there supposed to, they also have there own major side affects like inabality to lock a traget for a certin amount of time and the fact it take a much used high slot.
Can people please stop posting so called "fixes" for cloaks there fine the way they are.

Or maybe set a timer so that after being cloaked for 15mins without any input the pilot timeouts and disconnects. Alot of pilots who go afk cloaked do so due to agro when they want to log-off (or I do anyway). In this instance it's purely that we wish to log bak on still in our ships where we were and not back in a station with a loss-mail. --------------- What! Something that functionally has no counter isn't really what I would call balanced. That being said, I don't want any major changes to the cloaks. Make them scanable if you have uber astrometrics skills and a covert ops frig/cruiser. A limited ability to find them should be available given enough time. I don't think it should be fast at all. 10 minutes minimum scan time. 20 without the skills to five or something. Reason: with WTZ there's no way to stop somebody from getting into your system unless the entrance is bubbled and camped 23/7. Parking your ship in an enemy system for days or weeks at a time, cloaking, and going to work or out to dinner or whatever isn't playing the game. It's merely being irritating. I don't see any reason you should be able to sit 150km off a stargate or planet in a red system and be 100% sure that you're completely safe. it doesn't make sense. ------ Pain is weakness leaving the body.

I sense you do not use cloaks at all.
Covert ops cloaks are fine as they are. Only a limited number of ships can use them, and it's impossible to fit them well for solo combat (fleet combat is another matter entirely).
Prototype and improved cloaks however need to be tweaked
Prototype and improved cloaks need to be detectable by scan probes (It should be harder then finding an uncloaked ship, but still possible).
These changes stop people using cloaked BS from ganking miners with impunity, while still allowing people to use cloaks for things like escaping gate camps.
Covert ops ships are designed specifically to be completely undetectable, and your suggestion would break that, rendering their only real defense useless.
Massive firepower or completely undetectable. pick one. People get to choose both right now and THAT is what is wrong with cloaking. Not people going afk.

Cloaked ships shouldnt be detected by anything at all. Thats the whole point of the cloaking device. I agree that cloaked ships when cloaked shouldnt be visible in local. Cloaks dont need nerfing they need improving. www.eve-players.com |
