If you love Next Gen, I'm sure you'll love Deep Space Nine. I just finished rewatching season 4 and I suggest that's where you start. Seasons 1-3 are fine, but not anywhere near as compelling as seasons 4-7 when the acting and storytelling become superb.

Absolutely the best episode of any Star Trek series ever.
The best TNG episode is not so much a time travel one, but it sort of is, is The Inner Light __________________________________

The only time I watch any of the star trek anymore is when they have those large space battles. Those definitly make it worth it.

Watch DS9 from the beginning if you watch it. The first episode is one of the best in the whole thing, and the first few seasons have a very un-startrek mood. While the later seasons do tend to be better, only action *****s advise avoiding the first few.
That video was very well done.
Also, are we going to get a star trek thread each day from now on? I could live with that... -

DS-9 was the best plot. It had the least amount of meaningless episodes that don't add anything to the big story, IMHO.
Voyager so far has been > TNG. Seven is way hotter than Troi and the Voyager ship is sexier than Enterprise. I don't have a favorite episode, but if I did, it would be among the DS-9 series.
Oh, and Picard > Kirk BTW.

DS9 had the best plot by far. Voyager was.. well.. adequeate, but I could never ge into it.. must be because after tooking a hell of a pounding in practicaly every other episode, the ship was back to spiffy new in the next.
Also the finale sucked so much, I was afraid my TV was turning into a black hole. ------------------------ I don't believe in sigs. |

I agree, there is one *BIG* mistake about how Voyager ends. How come no temporal agents intervened? They seemed to appear every time somebody trow a fart out of time-line. |

If you like DS9, you'll love Babylon 5.
Renders may leave a bit to be desired. Also some guest stars, and a main character (cough Sheridan cough) may have some wooden acting at times. But you can't beat the plot. Its so good that DS9 had to copy it. :P
But more on topic, yes thats a good early TNG episode. Going back and watching TNG, I can't say I care too much for its "throwaway episodes" - which are a majority. There are some over arching plots, though they aren't central to a majority of episodes as it was in mid/late DS9, or all of Babylon 5 (hell, JMS is the only writing credit in seasons 3 and 4 as I recall). But, stay away from seasons 1 and 2 of TNG, Season 3 is where things start to get decent (overall imho). Season 4 TNG has some good stuff in it, especially thing Klingon episodes (Reunion, Redemption, a couple others I think).
I assume you saw it on G4 or Spike? Between the two I think you can watch TNG/DS9 around 12 hours out of the day. (Canadians get it for something like 20 hours a day on "Space" from what I recall ) --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Best part of that episode is Bashir/O'Brien: "Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them, Volley'd and thunder'd." "Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the Jaws of Death, Into the mouth of hell... Rode the six hundred."
They left off Sisko telling them to shut up in that quote though, friend has my DVDs so I have to go off memory-alpha.

Edited by: Ciphero on 23/07/2007 09:23:27 Anybody remember the DS9 episode in which O'Brian is working on something engineery, and suddenly yells out "*******S!" (rhymes with Trollocks) into the quiet room?
I think that had to be my favourite moment for the sheer unexpectedness. |
