I'd rather see proper 1.0 sound first, thank you. Meanwhile, I run with 0.0 sound. As many others here.

EVE does have 5.1 surround sound, at least it did before the audio API was updated to the slightly better version so it should still be there.
You have to make sure that your sound options in Windows are set in the Control Panel for 5.1 speakers or what ever setup you have.
Oh, and if you have Vista, forget about it. Microsoft removed hardware accelerated audio (and that means anything more than stereo is right out) for some unknown reason. The only way to get "surround sound" in Vista is to have either a new sound card that has hardware OpenAL support and the programs need to have built in support for OpenAL as well, or you need a AC3/DTS/<insert-pro-audio-jargon-here> home theater receiver and a program that can output the digital audio streams to the passthrough connector on the soundcard.

Think i only used the EVE sound for 2-3 weeks, after that i got me the tool to switch the sound files but as soon as i needed TS even that has stoped.

hmmm... I usually play with sound on (xcept when I'm in pvp ops), and I can say that I didn't notice that much of an improvement, xcept a bit better framerate.
besides that EVE tries to be 5.1

Yes, it has 5.1. I was playing the game for the first time last night and was hearing sounds out of my rear speakers :) It's not a huge effect, so when I heard some weird sounds from my rears I thought it was something else and it kinda freaked me out!

I'm not a sound geek, but I have surround sound. Vista Home Premium, SB Audigy, 5.1 home theater speaker system that was on my previous machine. Is that your second option? It isn't 'digital output', it works the same as it did with XP.
Yes, Eve doesn't have true 'surround' sound. If you hear shooting from behind you, Mr Pirate is directly behind you. Anywhere else the sound comes from in front, there's no graduated transition.

Didn't Creative release Alchemy(drivers for vista) recently which remedied this problem?
