anyone use them yet? ur experience? Is it lame that each bomb is about 20m each? Can u fit/launch more than one bomb at same time?

yeah would also be curious to see how these could be used in a manner that is cost effective.
Like what do you bomb that you can get more than 20mil back from?

They arent that good atm.. i can only imagine 1 situation where a bomb would be usefull.. if you have a very compact powerball-blob and you manage to hit it with an ecm bomb to break the lock so you can keep them from firing... but in the current state of lag, not even that will really pay the 20M.

or u can use it on a carriers drones and 1 volly all of em and cost tht carrier 225mill in 1 go

ehm no the damage scales .. ou would ned atleast 3 bombs to instapop all the drones ... still it`d e cost effective as 1 drone = 1 bomb money wise. >--- Witty banter. |

I think all you need is a couple of bombs to pop em
still the lockbreaker and void bomb are the only ones that seem worth it

Bombs, especially the lockbreaker which is the cheapest, do not cost 20 mil. It's 16 mil production cost (with empire mineral prices) at the most. I think the lockbreaker is about 10 mil. ------------------

I wonder if the price tag is a sorta of nerf to prevent bomb spamming. If it is, it's typical ccp logic. They are big enough already that a stealth bomber can carry only a couple. The cost should be significantly higher than warp disruption probes and thats all.

bombs, like level 5 missions came PRE nerfed so they would not WTFBBQ the balance of the game- its easier to boost them then to nerf them later on and have everyone scream like a girl.

From my small amount of experience with them, they're not any good without a group of stealth bombers and even then, not worth the cost of using.

I lost a Vagabond to one of these, one shot and I was in a pod. I had just hit my MWD and I'm sure my sig radius was through the roof. And no, I didn't have 2 LSE on, I appologize for not having a cookie cutter setup.
The interesting part was, the guy who set it off lost his own ship and at least 2 gang mates, all at the very beginning of the fight.
At any rate, I'm sure that if they were properly deployed (i.e., not so damn expensive that no one uses them) they could do some good damage even in smaller gangs.

I beg to differ.
Catch the drones right after they engage - or right before they disengage their MWD. One bomb - lots of dead fighters.

but there's a 15 second delay, that'd require some amazing timing and prediction on your part

Well now that we have a better feel for the stats for them, maybe we need to have some people design a setup that may work with them and not result in the death of the bomber.
for example a manticore has 3 launchers = 3 bombs = 60 mill a shot with a 15 km radius i beleive? (never used them yet) one would have to have a speed of 1km per second minimum to survive the launch without dropping and going to warp. (not sure of recycle time)
195 speed base *1.25 = 243 ish with skills so would need a MWD to make it happen. A group of 4 of them well practised could deliver in one blow enough damage to completely annihilate a gateing in fleet (12 bombs times what i bebelive was 6k damage approx = 72k damage)
so for 240 mill (2 bs in ships and fittings) you can annihilate hundreds of bs technically. Why would they boost them?

"Only one Bomb Launcher can be fitted per ship."

You can't move out of the blast radius in time, and you can't use mwd while cloaked. You could decloak, and turn on the mwd to move away but that leaves you extremely vulnerable.
You're meant to drop the bombs, decloak and warp out. ------------------

so u are confirmed that u can drop the bombs prior to decloak? and does dropping a bomb prevent u from using a gate after?

If you leave system or dock before the bomb goes off, it won't go off. If it counts as aggression that will prevent you from docking or jumping after that or not, I don't know. ------------------

it starts an aggression timer... it's also impossible to launch that many bombs at once, max is 7, 6 max skilled ones
you can outrun your bomb, hitting 1km/s isn't that hard
I heard that you can't even warp out of grid, as the bomb will not do damage... haven't tested this, but it'd fit perfectly with the rest of the factors that make these ******* useless wastes of time

You can warp out. As long as you don't dock or leave system they will explode and do damage. ------------------

It is also a proven fact that bombs can not be used in empire space, if you try to use it in empire a error message will pop up saying it cannot be done in your current location or something i forget exactly. They can only be used in 0.0 and even if you go to 0.0 with bombs you are most likely to waste the bomb on someone or get poped using one. |
