Differentiating between a farmer and real player alt created just for isk earning purpose is impossible. Both have the same goal: earning isk at maximum rate. You can't even argue about someone being online 23/7 because AFAIR account sharing is allowed according to EULA if you share it with your close relative (father, son, etc).
Recently we had incidents when farmers in 0.0 fought back with their Ravens which further blurs the edge. If they grind isk and the do PVP they behave like every other player in EVE.
I don't think there are any macros for activities other than mining (where all it needs is to record some mouse movements and keystrokes). It's way cheaper to hire some farmers than to hire programmer to code some sophisticated AI. And you have to hire him each time CCP changes game mechanics or players adapt to your macro.
Generally speaking it's way easier to spot someone selling ISK for money and follow the ISK.

that is ok in my book if they fight back, if there are real "players" behind it
what I very much dislike is the legions, yes legions, of isk farmers who IMMEDIATELY LOG OFF when you enter a system. Or they CLOAK and LOG OFF when you enter system.
I ask CCP to please implement PvP tools that we the "normal" playing users can use to track them down and kill em.
Things like npc agro times (so they wont dissapear so quick after logging off) Thinks like alliances being able to flag recognized isk farmers to have certain disatvantages in claimed alliance space (sovereignity space) etc.
I am sure the game developers can give us a hand and implement some tools so that we can help ourselves.

The problem with any macro detection system is that when the methods it uses become public knowledge all new macrows are built to avoid them. In turn the detection software evolves, and then again the macros. Since more and more "flagging" mechanisms are added the rate of false positives increases incrementally.
In the end the race only hurts the real clients while having little or no effect in the bigger scale of things. Well, it is exciting for those who take part in the race, but everyone else just become collateral damage. ___ P.S. Post with your main. Mind control and tin hats |
