I will explain this mission, it requires you to fly 60km through a hazardous gas cloud dealing between 500 and 800 raw damage per 10 seconds. There is then a large burst of damage at the end of 8000. I have confirmed with my corpmates this is the same dmage dealt by the the level 4 version. The final wave of this instantly popped my ishkur from full armor. It is likely it would have also done this to a cruiser. Um...wtf?? A level 2 that requires a BC? Somethign is wrong methinks?? I have never encountered a lvl 2 that is not easily doable in my ishkur, and now i'm 30m+ down because of it. This was for the reward of...dun dun dun...78 LP and 120k isk. Nice.

Hmm our database indicates that the level 2 recon mission is not using the same damage as the level 4 variant.
The final wave in the level 2 version is 4400 damage total, while the level 4 version is considerably higher.
However in a smaller ship (which cannot handle the last wave's damage) you can still complete the mission by flying to the acceleration gate, using it, and getting through the 'room of death' before the last wave hits you.
I've actually done this mission with a t2 frigate and a moa, with nothing but an armor repairer and an afterburner. The trick is avoiding the last wave.
With decent resistances and a repairer you should be able to tank it though.

Was able to do this in a Cormorant with nothing but a couple extenders, small booster and a Cruiser sized AB.
I guess it's possible that I didn't take much damage from warp-in to gate due to the speed but I made it through with 1/2 my armor left.
If you want a tough one, try doing part 2 in a Caracal when you get booted off the server on warp-in. I came back to all 40+ rats spawned and enjoyed a 1 fps fight :(.
