I would like to see CCP's response (if they ever would do such thing) to lots of questions asked by the customers (Us who pay you to provide us what should be a smoothly working service). Problem is the thread doesnt seem to exist anymore. If I was looking the wrong place please link the thread to me. But I highly doubt that I am mistaken since I am using the same link as yesterday, which is http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=560480
If CCP did delete their own official thread without answering what we want answered then thats just one more reason to stop paying this company for a broken service and behaviours that only show how little they respect their customers.

If you dont like what I said browse to other threads. And anyone who is pleased with the way CCP works should just browse away imo. I dont want to hear how well you think CCP does cause they are being paid to provide a good and working service, but apearently they are not providing that to all their customers.

Seriously, if you don't like something, you don't have to pay for it. And if enough people feel the same they won't pay either. However, clearly, there aren't enough people who feel the same, and are in fact quite happy playing EVE. So what does this mean? For you it seems to mean that you need to whine on the forums in the hope that you can somehow make people go "YAH CPP MAED OF FAULZ CONSPIRACEHS ETC"
They probably removed the thread because there were no longer server issues. The thread existed to inform people that CCP were aware of the server problems, and to stop the entire forum being spammed with people whining about it. Once the problems were fixed, the thread had no need to exist, just like every other official server problems thread that has gone before it.
What the thread wasn't however, was a place to ask CCP questions and get a load of answers. If CCP feel they need to give answers I'm sure they will make a post or blog about it, as, again, they have done in the past.

I just love the way ppl post with alts. Anyways, threads can easily be LOCKED to stop spam, and they could have told us more about why the f*** server did crash. If you are paying to be able to play 23hours a day and only get 21 and you accept that just STFU. I am not pleased with that and since I already paid for 3 months then CCP better provide me the service I paid for or give me back my money.

The server issues threads are usually used for when the server is having temporary issues, and when it's dealt with it's either locked or deleted.
Which questions would you like answered?

Let's see, here are the few questions I can find in my cache from the deleted thread:
Originally by: Ashoka TG eve is sorta a second life for quite a few of us. Yes, you may call me whatever you want but it's the truth. And when I have to delay going to work by 2 hours because the server went down (and I really need to start a new skill), it ****es me off. I have repeatedly asked CCP to reimburse me for my game time but refused everytime. Why shouldn't I be reimbursed when I am not getting a service I am paying for?
Originally by: Queen Athena all we are asking for is 23 hours of uninterupted game play here, is that too much to ask?
Why dont we get what we pay for? When we signed up we signed up for 23h of server time except when you have to patch the server. Why are we getting less and less time lately? Why cant we have our money back when you dont deliver the service we pay for? What the hell is wrong with the server this time? I would very much like to see a history of the server status. I think that would be a part of the transperancy you promis us. Why cant we have lost training time back when the cause was faulty equipment you have or bugs in the programs you write.
Edit: The game concept and history is great. But tbh you ruined it all when failing to deliver a working service like you are supposed to, by ignoring the customers sometimes, and when some of your employees interfere with the game to aid some ingame entities.

Good luck with that.
If the known issues page isn't even available to anyone who does not already have an account, why would CCP disclose a log of server downtime, especially if it isn't rosy? Marketing would have a fit.

all i can say is for the love of everything holy step away from your computer for a week and smell the roses.
there is a clause in the EULA that states that you are entitled to nothing if the server hits the **** fan. simple as that. dont like it? cancel sub and eh, go smell some roses.

Edited by: Asestorian on 21/07/2007 19:52:00 Wrangler probably is doing other things as well, not to mention he actually has to like, you know, ask somebody.
But I have my own theory here. I don't know why they don't reimburse. What are you expecting them to reimburse? Money? Skillpoints? Both are a total pain in the butt to do I'd guess. I doubt they want to sit around working out exactly how much each person needs to be refunded/how many extra skillpoints people should get and into what, and then make sure that everyone gets them and deal with any problems that arise from it.
Seriously, that would suck and be detrimental to the entire game.
Secondly, you don't get the 23 hours uninterrupted downtime because the servers keep screwing up. CCP are probably completely aware of this, and will do their best to try and fix it. However, EVE's servers are, well, large, and I imagine it is a very difficult process trying to get everything to work perfectly and smoothly. They do get it right occasionally, and CCP do apologise for the problems their server has. However, it is very difficult for them to get it right all the time. And, as I said before, reimbursement is really not very cost-effective or efficient, and would really drag down service in other areas. Imagine the GMs having loads of extra petitions from people who maybe didn't receive their minuscule amount of money, or their tiny amount of extra SP was put into the wrong place by accident. The petition queue would become even more flooded than usual.
Personally, I think we should just live with it as we have always done. MMOs are still relatively new, and considering the kind of equipment, and the scale that equipment is used on, that EVE needs, they can't be expected to run perfectly at all times when running something as complex as EVE.

I understand how much work it takes to run the EvE servers, but if they can't deliver the product then they shouldnt promis that. I know that every product has its faulty sides. But when it happens multiple times with high frequency then the product will not serve it's purpose, which is the case here. We all log on eve to have fun in our sparetime, but lag and server crashes cause the exact opposit of that. And since we pay for the service we'd like to be more informed and to have a level of service equal to the money we spend on it.
It's like paying an ISP for a product with which you can be online 24/7, but you only get 12hours a day, and the downtime just happens to be when you need to be online. Such a product is not even a complete one. We all like EvE, but it really isn't helping with all the faults.

the thread in question was removed by me this morning after the server had been up several hours. at the time there had been no response in it as to the cause of the server problem.
once we have an update/reason for the outage it will be shared with the community. until that time i request that you do not rant or troll and that you treat us (the volunteers/devs) with the same degree of respect and courtesy that you would like us to show you.

Ok, keep in mind that I'm not a technical person and to be completely honest I don't quite understand everything I'm going to say.
This morning it seems like both SQL servers crashed. The primary SQL server database (I think DB meant database anyway) died and tried to failover to the second server database thingy, but that server had some error on startup (we discovered) so it couldn't accept the failover.
Server became unresponsive after reboot, server rebooted, SOL servers started making log dumps so the whole cluster was rebooted to prevent log generation.
The server was then fixed and rebooted. We don't know why it tried to failover, or didn't in any emails anyway, but we have logs and it will be looked into and fixed.
Or, in a language I understand, server go boom, we call operations, operations make everything better again.

Thank you for your response. This is what I was asking for. Ppl now know what happened and if ppl get info like this when server crashes I am sure many wont spam the forums as soon as they get disconnected. Then they would wait for the official response ;).
When I told you I was waiting for your response was because of the players who spammed the thread with useless posts and I was trying to get back on topic.
Other questions are still not answered, but I dont expect you to be able to answer them if they arent a part of what you work with at CCP. But I am sure CCP got the message that a part of the customers wanted them to get.
Thank you for your time.
