I got one recently, gonna be a while before I can pilot it. So while I wait I am looking up all the info I can get.
While looking up the sticky post, and search for the builds that are posted for this ship I wanted to get some fresh info from you guys.
What is it best at? what is the bane of a Hyper's existence? other general info is welcome.

for starters it is ugly as hell- but you can tank a lot of dmg with dual injector duel rep.

It's kind of... *cough*... redundant ?
Doesn't really do anything a Megathron can't do already in PvP anyway (it's only a slightly better sniper in some cases, but actually worse in others), but at least it's slightly easier to fit.
100m dronebay means either two sets of meds or 4/5 heavies, I guess it's your choice how to fill it. Personally, I don't think that extra gun was worth 25m of dronebay, not by a longshot.
Its tanking bonus is mostly suitable for missions, although an injected version is an awesome short-term PvP tank. You can even set it up easily to perma-dual-LAR tank in PvE (with CCC/SMC rigs), so it's a great mission boat.
Final verdict ?
Don't get one for PvP, get a Megathron instead.
Do get one for PvE if you like... but to be honest, a Dominix is usually better, due to the drone flexibility.

the hype is best at active tank due to the bonus, and so the bane of its existence is NOS.
Once NOS gets its rightful nerf the hyperion will be a much more legitimate pvp choice.

I dont see an amazingly amount wrong with the hyperion tbh, i just wish it had another 25m drone bay.

I bought one when they came out, but I still prefer to use a Mega-T.

I like the hyperion more than a megathron tbh. Its old-school megathron with some wicked bonusses  . The classic neutron+plate mega is very, very slow. Armageddon is far better than a megathron @ the plate task.

I use mine as a smartbomb boat =) It's pretty cool for that to be honest...
What you need to keep in mind is that as a smartbomb boat.. you need all the cap you can get... therefor, mine is fitted as so:
High: 8 x large smartbombs (mixed with em, therm, exp)
Mids: 2 x CPR II, Cetus ECM, 2 x heavy electrochem boosters with 800 charges
Lows: Best named T1 LAR, 2 x EANM II, 3 x stabs
Rigs: 3 x CCC's.
This leaves me with 2 CPU left... (which is why there isn't a T2 repper fitted.. dont really need it either with the stabs)
.. Room for 21 x 800 cap charges in cargo bay.
Very very nice bomb boat :P

The 100m¦ drone bay really bothers me, and while it does get some excellent bonuses for repair amount, I'd've liked to see another low slot on it to round out the tank. *shrug*

320 DPS at max skill (yes, skill, not skills) to each and all targets in range when using T1 named or T2 SBs.
And that's regardless of target speed or signature radius, as long as it's in range (5km for T1 named, 6km for T2).
Cap consumption is insane though... 213 to 235 capacitor/second, depending on wether you use T1 named or T2.
It gets much better with officer SBs... DPS, range *and* cap consumption.

On a hyperion,
6x electron 2x heavy nos
standard mids (duel web)
2x Lar, 3x Hardners and a damage control...
would it be better to use
A) 5 ecm drones, 5 mediums
B) 4 heavys
C) 4 heavy ecm drones?

that's with 1 pg rig i'm afraid, and 2 rep amount rigs. with 2 or 3 pg rigs u can fit full neutron, twin rep, injector, mwd everything but neutrons kill the cap a little too fast with a twin rep and don't do really that much more dps than ions
if u want a neutron setup u can go with
8 neutron II's
mwd, 2 med injectors, disruptor, web (if in gang u can swap the web or disruptor for a tracking comp or 2 which is needed if ur gonna use void imo.
LAR II, 1600 plate, 2 eanm II's, dmg ctrl, mag stab II
that fits with 1 pg i believe and can use a rep amount rig and rep cycle time rig for 1 quality rep there or hp rigs which can work nice.
personally i prefer the ion twin rep setup but cap struggles slightly when running everything under a nos or 2.
