I'm thinking of skilling up to fly a Curse. However, I'm not sure if I'll prefer it to Minmatar Recons/HACs.
Stabbers are good for testing the fast Minmatar style.
Is there a cheap/low-ish SP ship I can fly to give me an idea of how a Curse would handle?

Edited by: Tamoko on 22/07/2007 11:25:07 The arbitrator can hardly be considered a mini-curse. It doesn't get the Nos bonus; and as a result, can't be flown hardly the same way.
Though I suppose it'd do just to get an idea how the curse flies. Maybe... sorta.
You'll have to decide what's more important to you: Solo gratification, or gang warfare. If solo is your thing, I can't praise the Curse enough. Huginns & Rapiers are best suited to group combat, though. (edit) Not to suggest the curse is a poor gang ship. It does have a few issues, though: It's cap is tiny, and has troubles warping long distances on short notice, and you have to take great care of your drones since they're your only weapon.

Not exactly. The arbitrator is the (obvious) t1 version, but it is missing the nos bonuses, especially the nos range bonus. Which makes it more a t1 version of the pilgrim than the curse from the playstyle.

the thing about the curse is it makes up for its crappy dps by draining the cap of their opponent meaning that their tank is screwed unless they are passive.
With this is mind the closest ship to the curse is probably the nos domi. Drones for damage, nos to kill their tank while maintaining your own.
What these guys are refering to is a compleately different animal which would be the nanocurse and as far as that goes there really arn't any t1 counterparts, certainly not the arbitrator altho thats not a bad start if you fit it right.
What you lookig for is a ship that orbits at range while dampening the target and killing with drones. this is difficult in the arbitrator due to not having the slots for it, perhaps practice in a celestis?

Because no other ship has a bonus to NOS range to get a similar effect for starters I would say you need heavy NOS which means battleships only.
If your aiming to do damage with you drones that takes it down to geddon, domi and typhoon.
You could of course use another form of damage apart from drones, whilst going at speed though the only other option is missiles.
Options if your using missiles include typhoon and raven.
Most curses also fit EW, out of the options above that restricts you to domi or raven.
It really comes down to how you want to do your damage and whether you want to go more for speed or EW.
If you want lots of EW and missiles go raven.
If you want more speed but little EW and both missiles and drones go for phoon.
If you want all damage from drones and with medium speed and a bit of EW go for domi.
None of these will get reasonable speeds without poly rigs and a few implants so its not a huge amount cheaper than the curse but if requires less sp.

no I'm saying he's asking for a cheap/low SP version of the curse... the answer is abritrator, not ashimmu, especially cause the ashimmu has no drones, no nos range bonus, no tracking disruptor bonus, and no similarity to the ******* curse at all, other than both will use some nos
good enough?

oh nice... why don't you stfu and read what the OP wants? he wants a curse alternative, for learning how to fly one before buying one... that's an arbitrator, not an ashimmu... as I mentioned the only similarity between the curse and the ashimmu is that they'll both fit nos, and that they're both cruisers
oh and as for it being available for low SP, sure... if you live in ******* BOB space
think before you post

After seeing that KM (arbitrator pwns faction fitted deimos) - which considering the deimos had no mwd (I wonder if he only had AM charges too) is unsurprising but still looks really cool - I really wanna get out there and fly an arbitrator. Kudos to the pilot.
