Ive been playing for a few days now, and i cant help but notice everytime i enter a combat zone, my ship just kinda stays in one place whlle i shoot stuff. This hasn't been a problem yet but it might be later. Does anyone have advice for combat maneuvering? Is there any way to manually move your ship(Keys or something)?
Any help is greatly appriciated?

You can use the "Approach", "Orbit" and "Keep at Range" options (right click menu or the overview) or you can simply double click in a direction (i.e. empty space) or on an object to move towards it.

They used to explain that in the tutorial. Perhaps it's not in the new tutorial anymore? If you haven't played through the tutorial, you really really (really) should.

Nowadays you almost have to. You "wake up" in space in a deadspace location when you create your account. Aura tells you to do stuff and you are on your way :)

Dungeon or not, you still need to do the tutorial IMO.

Well i did do the tutorial and know all about orbit, keep at distance and so on, it just seems sorta impractical that you cant do fancy flying if u are in a small craft. Those commands would come in handy if i was taking on big ship, but small ones die too fast. o well thanks anyway, ill keep trying to figure a plan out, by chance does anyone know of any videos of pilots in battle that might help me out?
Thanks

The video forum might help you out here. ----- That glorious ship is a Templar-class fighter, the sword of light and purity which our carriers shall drive into the hearts of the Minmatar heretics! |

hey there; something I read elsewhere, in response to a similar question, stuck in my mind: it reminded us that we're flying spaceships, not biplanes! With ultra-advanced tracking technology etc. you're not going to dogfight in space: the battles are tactical, it's all about deploying the right mix of gear, targeting the right enemies with the right guns, selecting the right ammo for the job, clever use of electronic warfare to drain energy, jam enemy guns, increase your own sensors etc. etc.
if you want to see a bit more action on the screen, try using short range weapons like blasters; blaze in on afterburner, get close and dirty!

The double click is essential to combat maneuvering. Also, the orbit, approach, and maintain commands are critical to surviving. A moving target is harder to hit, and moving so you can hit and your target can't will increase your durability greatly, especially if you have weapon systems that aren't affected by the movement, like missiles and drones.
These concepts apply no matter the size of the ship.

The downloads section of Agony's website (links below) has some videos. Double-clicking on a point in space will fly your ship towards that point. (I guess the current version of the tutorial doesn't include that anymore.)
