I am currently near the end of the amarr cosmos missions, and there is an archeology site containing an item i need.
However this site also contains 2 Battleships and a number of cruisers/frigates. We are not talking anything too tough here, the BS are only 380k each. But the need to fit analyzers means a passive shield tank is out of the question.
Any suggestions on an armour tanking ship with enough mid slots to analyze efficiently? I can fly Amarr, caldari and gallente BS, Amarr and caldari Command ships and HACS and all 3 races battlecruisers. So only restriction really is no Minmitar ships pls!
DPS is not important, im happy to leave the BS there if I can tank them forever and analyze at the same time, but if a fitting has enough DPS I dont mind collecting the bounty's too

Um, hack the site open, go back and jump into DPS ship, clear it out, hop back into hacker ship and hack away?

Usually that would be the plan, however cosmos plex's respawn VERY quickly! and there are between 40 and 50 'cans?' to analyze for my item!

I know it seems like an obvious answer... but bringing a friend to tank for you might be the way forward.
Failing that I'd vote for a Domi with nos in the highs (to NOS the BS's) allowing your tank to keep going whilst your mids/some of your mids are used for the analyzing mods, also your drones should give you enough DPS to take out the rats while you do it.

*sigh* ok here is some good tips for tanking:
1. use resistance plating and membranes. Try tanking the damage types your eenemy is doing.
2. Use an Armor repair unit.
3. Use cap rechargers and cap power relays.
See? not so different from shieldtanking?

Quick question Sandra Tseng...
Did you actually read the opening post?

An Absolution or an Abaddon would make an ideal armor tank. Either can fit dual reps; the Absolution can run two medium repairers permanently and easily tanks 500 dps on any of the tanked damage types. The Abaddon still has capacitor problems with two reps, but not having to fire makes it much easier to manage.
For the Absolution, you'll need to fit 2 CCC rigs if you don't want to worry about cap. Then you'll have two MAR IIs, 4 active hardeners, and a CPR II in the lows. With one Cap Recharger II in the mids, the tank will run for 21 minutes. With 2 kinetic and 2 thermic hardeners, you can tank 861 dps and 621 dps respectively.

what armortsnking battleship can not tank what he described and still have a spare midslot? (well the armageddon obviously, but any other) Tempest Typhoon Abaddon Apocalypse Hyperion Megathron Dominix
heck, even a Scorpion or a Raven can fit an armor tank enough to do it. Never flew Rook though but probably that one too

This is usually enough to tank Sansha Vengence mission. And i do attract a lot of aggro
Low: LAR, 2x Them hardner, 1x EM harnder. You can put an EANM on just for kicks, but should not be nessecary. Or you can add a MAR. The rest are cap, cap and more cap. Use an Apoc. With increased capacitor, you also get increased cap regen, and that helps. If you want to kill the rats aswell, i suggest you use projectile weapons to be on the safe side, or DHP/DHB as they use the least cap.
Hope it helps

I would tend to the Dominix.
It is cheap and cheap to fit for this kind of action. Just take enough drones to kill the guys off and you can even start analyzing during battle. Fit NOS and Cap Booster and you can run a dual heavy repper setup (dont think you will need that), have enough low slots to max resists for the damage type of your enemies and can spare all the midslots you ever need... ------- Angelus Fade ------- I once was a badass fighter for the Amarr Empire, but they screwed me over and de-fanged me, so currently I am just a fluffy puppy space miner.... until the time |

I hadn't thought about a dual med rep tank as I wasn't sure it would be enough, but maybe on a myrmidon?? I have BC lvl 5 so get the full bonus to armour repping. And plenty of mids then for analyzing with rails + drones for damage. Any thoughts??

So, if I understand you correctly, the problem is that you want LOTS of analysers to be able to do the site?
I would suggest trying it completely backwards - high dps to kill the rats before they manage to nick your armor.
Of course the dominix can do both, with plates and a few railguns just for the extra dps. Use all your low slots for tank/plates, and use a cap booster, an afterburner and the rest analyzers in the mids. kill the enemies fast -> no need to tank -> ??? -> profit. --- If someone else from my Corporation or Alliance agrees with me, he will say so. Assume nobody does :) --- WTB: Scorpion wing (left)

Well I think the phrase he used was "enough mid slots to analyze efficiently" which kinna implies more than one midslot so I guess it really depends on how many modules you want to use and how hard the rats are hitting. Also I'm guessing he is wanting to 'semi-permatank' so how many armour tanking ships can do that... well it depends on how hard the rats are hitting but if you need to keep a large repper going constantly and need high resists, then not all that many ships can do it without using their mids and certianly not 'on the cheap' ie. t1 and no rigs :P
So I'd still vote for the dominix (lots of mids and if you go the NOS route you shouldn't have to use any of them on tanking), although if they myrmidon can do it then great - its a bit cheaper and has a faster base speed so moving from can to can would be quicker.
Having said that I've found that domi has a better ability for 'soaking up' damage than the myrmidon when stationary (which you will be when analyzing) so it's worth keeping that in mind. Also if you are using the domi you can pack some light drones to take out any interceptors which your heavies might not be able to hit and you can leave your highs for nos to keep your tank going.
ps. pack some heavy armour rep drones as well and nos them to keep your tank going if the BS's are staying out of range.

I'd try a Myrmidon. Full tank lows should do it.

Yarr, that should work.. Injector, dual rep, 4 slots for hardening, 4 slots for analyzers. As long as you're done before you run out of booster charges.
