I like to ask fellow hulk pilots how you mine. Do you mine and jetcan, or mine with expanded space and return to station offload and go out again? This is mainly for those who solo mine.

Mine and jetcan. The Hulk fills up far too quickly to reasonably pack & haul. ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Depends on where I am.
If I am in high-sec, I jetcan and haul in after 2 cans - just in case the ore thieves get wind of me.
In lower sec settings, I might mine to a can, fill the one can, then hop in the hauler and snag (Itty 5 with carge rigs and Expander IIs). But I might also feel insecure enough to ninja mine and just fit the lows with expanders. Ninja mining sucks, but one has to adapt to survive!
The ore must flow...

Well you don't have to jet it out set up a station where you are get cargo opt 1, 3 strip miners, and a servey scanner, 2 cargo expands 2 on the hulk it will hold 17199 m3 if you have a freind with hauler then it is nice to just jet it out and let him pick it up and let him haul it so you can continue to haul in the ore. best thing i can say to do.

True if you didn't dock up our hulk while they where docking in there pod. Only a fool would try to mine more.
Dock grab a combat ship or wait out the timer. You may lose some ore but that kill mail is priceless.

With 2 accounts at the same time you can do this:
Hulk >> Jetcan >> Transporter
Transporters are much harder to steal, flip, or pop in comparison to jetcans.
The transporter can dock and dump between cycles. ----

2 expanders (13000m3) & 2 mining drone rigs w/ 5 mining drone II.
I dock as soon as cargo is full ; drones allow to know if roid will pop before 3m strips cycle end

Edited by: Triple Deke on 26/07/2007 21:30:19 I just got my hulk last week and haven't had a whole lot of time play around in it yet, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that you don't need a survey scanner in a hulk. Is my memory correct, or am I smoking roid fumes again? And if I'm not senile, then why wouldn't you need one?
PS I jetcan mostly, but I've got her rigged with 2 cargo expanding rigs and have some cargo expander II's and some GSC's sitting in station for sucking and dumping when the system starts to get a little too crowded for my taste.

I'm guessing because a Hulk can fly with a set of mining drones and a set of combat drones. Mining drones will help pop the roid closer to its actual empty state than waiting three minutes.
Personally while running the laser for 2-3 minutes longer than is necessary on an empty roid I really do not see why people get in such a fuss over it. If you do the math after a session of mining doing it "perfectly" using a roid scanner and just living with some wasted cycle time the difference at the end of the day is trivial. Personally I have better things to use that slot for but that's just me.
