I was on 9 out of 10 part of that engineer storyline quest and I warped to the deadspace location, killed the pirate after I mined and warped back only to remember I needed the lab guy from the wreck to complete it. I stopped my ship and the client crashed. I couldn't sign on for hours. Finally, when I did I warped back to the spot and the wreck as well as the kermite astroids were gone. I went to the agent and he let me know I was still missing stuff. So I had to void the whole quest line....
1.) Anyone else had this problem?
2a.) Could future improvements allow an option to quit the mission in a way that it would make it available again? (In case of bugs) I would even take agent point hits if I could only pick it back up.
Or
2b.) Make it so that the terminate process of characters doesn't take NINE HOURS... or more slots.

You were very unlucky. After completation a mission disapepar at DT (downtime 11.00-12.00 every day) or after a crash that require a database recovery.
1) If the mission has not sent the completation signal it is reset with full enemyes and target items, if it is considered completed it disappear, that is to avoid people farming some missions after completation.
2) that is a problem only with some specific mission, and in that case it is not possible, again to avoid farming;
2b) the termination process is a bit long to limit the people that recycle characters very fast to use them as suicide gankers in high sec. after

Thanks for all the replies guys, but I Xed that character cause I was so irritated. lol. I read your suggestions about petitions and thought "Oh yea!" But then remembered I had killed her already. XD Ah well, I can now start a new one. I wasn't really that far into it anyway.
And can I say engineer path is ALOT cooler than Executive Commander (this one). I have more fun with blueprints than hunting npcs. >.< :P

A GM will just drop the mission item in the hanger. THats what the did for me when I lost the n00b ore over a DT.
