Electrons have one benefit over neutrons, which is faster tracking. Although getting your angular velocity high enough for that to make a difference would be pretty impressive.

Basically, for most smaller (frig, destroyer)ships you want ions...neutrons will barely fit. I don't think anyone really uses electrons anyway?

Edited by: lyrenna on 27/07/2007 12:02:51 electrons are fine if u use them on a drone ship as a secondary damage source. they are also good for some brutix&thorax setups to, for mega neutrons are the way to go imho.

As a blasterlover I'd say it really depends on what you're aiming for. Do you want to tank or gank or a mixture of in-between. Also, really depends on which ships you plan on using. /Prince of Darkness at your service..

Neutrons, neutrons neutrons!!
Always and only T2!!!
11km optimal, 15km falloff with NULL L or a Freaking lots of DPS with void on point blank is the only thing blasters should do.
Electrons are good for fitting a brutix with a nice tank for exemple, or on dominixes, or hyperion for having a crazy tank, dual repper, dual cap booster.

There's no one way to use blasters, it all depends on the ship, the tactic and the fitting.
Good luck trying to fit a full rack of neutrons on a dual rep Brutix or Bthron.
While some don't like to, you can even mix two types in a fitting. For example my dual rep brutix got a mix of ions and electrons in the highs, and it works nicely (more dps than full electrons, and a full rack of ions doesn't fit).
So I'll say: decide on a tactic (gank or tank) then go for whatever combination gives you the best dps while still fitting. After all, it's all blasters are about: insane dmg.

Or quite the contrary. Electrons for all-round, low damage, high versatility. Neutrons for gank.

Having around 4 years of experience with blasters, with the current game mechanics I always choose Neutrons. Before the Null nerf I went for Ions and a tank, these days I go for neutrons and a light armor tank combined with a quasi-speed tank.
Without the range from neutrons you'll always be kited by AC boats. Neutrons + Null will give u enough DPS at AC range to be a problem for the AC boat thats trying to kite you, if you face a tank switch to void and watch the enemy melt in seconds against the uber DPS of Neutrons + Void. Note this is ofc comparing ships and weapons of same size class; btw with frigs its a bit different, u wont be able to fit neutrons on a taranis and it wont be much of an advantage anyway, but an enyo or ishkur (2 nos + 2 neutrons) could have their use.
As a last word forget about tanking with blaster boats unless it has an armor repairer bonus, but even then remember your best tank is to reduce dmg done to you by killing the targets around you as fast as possible... so yeah neutrons

If the ship bonus is hybrid turret damage, neutrons and plates, and forget the reps.
If the ship bonus is armor rep amount, electrons or ions.
