As far as negative/positive status, are they worth attacking or is the status hit a pain? Looks like they just go back and forth from station to about 50km out?
Really looking for the pros and cons of convoy hunting.

Edited by: Ithoriel on 27/07/2007 15:10:44 I have an alt who hunts them occasionally. You get a collection of trade goods, including items needed for T2 manufacturing. I do it for fun rather than profit.
Convoys assemble a ship at a time. First launches, travels away from station, returns to collect next and so on until all ships are in convoy - 2 - 5 ships usually. They then travel out to a point about 150km (iirc) from station and jump to 150km from destination. They then slow-boat to destination station.
CONCORD don't care about them unless they are CONCORD owned. Other corps station guns only defend their own convoys. That means you can vape a convoy which is arriving at another corps station while CONCORD and the station sentries stand idly by. Just make sure the sending and receiving stations belong to different corps.
I have my alt blast them and my main collect in a hauler - just like any other hi-sec ganker
Run missions for the corp from time to time to restore standing and "Robert is your mother's brother"
That help any?

My corp lives in Amarr space and declared all Minmatar to be "the enemy" (yes, all of you ).
I recently took a trip out to Heimatar and attacked a juicy convoy leaving the Brutor Tribe Treasury at Rens . The freighters went down easily. The only difficulty I encountered was that I could only fit a small fraction of the loot in my Caracal.
Several local scruffers then quickly descended on the wrecks and scavenged the rest.
As for the status loss. I was expecting a fair hit, but when I looked there was little or nothing. I'd started my private war against the Minmatar treasure house and it didn't seem they had even noticed.
I'll have to try again sometime soon.

thanks
I did notice them gathering up and subsequently jumping out. I've hit the "show info" button and haven't noticed ownership? What am I missing?
thanks again

Assume that if you see them leaving station A and going to station B, that station A's owner is also the convoy's owner?
Just a guess. :)

if i HAD to guess, that would be my guess too. i suppose i could pew pew convoys coming into stations. its just that sentry guns are soooooo unforgiving. :)

Only way I know, is to know where they come from - easiest is to either follow them, which is time consuming, or pick a system where all the stations belong to different (non-CONCORD) corps.
That help?

every bit of info helps im in a system that has like 8 stations, with 4 different corps, none of which is concord
I did notice that the Amarr looking stations throw out bestowers and the caldari looking stations throw out badgers. so if i see bestowers going into "caldari" stations or vice versa, that might be the ticket. (i havent seen that yet though)
this seems to be turning into an obsession

There was a good thread on this a while ago that I got tips from. Like others have said, make sure they aren't from the same corp as the station they are going too, and not concord, and theres no military reaction. "Return with your shield, or on it." |

easiest way to identify who owns the ships is to set each corp to a different standing ie +10 +5 0 -5 -10 it will color the convoys to match the stations it comes from. only works on systems with 5 or less diffrent corps in it.
