hey all.
A few folks on here often speak of metal music they dig. I thought i would start a list for folks who like metal. List bands you like and maybe others will give them a listen :)Also if there are certain sounds you are looking for maybe someone can point you in the right direction with a recommendation.
My Fav metal bands.
Lamb of God Fear Factory Children of Bodom (current fav) Type O Negative Arch Enemy Static X
Sounds I want more of.
I feel Children of Bodom are kinda in class of there own. Any recommendations for a CoB fan?
Cheers.

old trivium, the ascendancy album, (pull harder, declaration, and gunshot style), none of that thrash metal wannabe metallica***** metal that they've turned into.

Good old fashioned Iron Maiden!
Fear Factory - I heard "Demanufactured" playing in a bar in Amsterdam years back and made the barman write down the details! Don't buy "Remanufactured" as the first album!
You want something you may not have heard? Try The English Dogs after they went metal (early stuff is more punk) - maybe Forward Into Battle or When Legend Began.

Would like more In Flames style stuff (prefer their older stuff, ordinary story, episode 666, and colony are my current favs.)

last.fm? The "similar artist radio" thing is similar. You type in the name of a band and it plays similar music. ----- Any mistake I've made in spelling, grammar, or syntax, as well as any faulty cultural or historical statments should be attributed to me and not my nation of origin. |

Hm, let's see .. in no particular order:
Morbid Angel Dream Theater Death (RIP Chuck) Behemoth Vader Bolt Thrower Carcass Dimmu Borgir Cradle of Filth (up until the Midian album, the more recent ones suck imo) Metallica (old stuff) Slayer Necrophagist Lamb of God God Dethroned At the Gates Iron Maiden Communic Gorefest Monstrosity Nile
This list is in no way meant to be complete .. just a fine selection. __________

Don't know why you didn't slap TOOL on there as well with that set listed.
Could add: Mindless Self-Indulgence 40 Below Summer System of a Down Chevelle Damning Well Puscifer(A Perfect Circle/TOOL shoot-off, only tracks are on movie soundtracks that I know of.) Soil Breaking Benjamin
But that tends towards just the hard/spaz rock sound and not really 'metal', except possibly 40 Below and Mindless.
Good stuff either way.
Lotta good stuff in these lists though.

Would of, but it didn't occur to me, but now that you mention it I will. Along with A Perfect Circle, Metallica, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, and Three Days Grace (not true metal, but what the hell)
My taste in Metal tends to be more melodic.

I love some of the hard riffs in meshuggah, dimmu, arch enemy, etc. but i fkin hate the screaming. It blows. If there is one thing which destroys a wicked guitar riff, it's the screaming. Anyone know some harder bands without the screaming?

Yeah, Blind Guardian, Nevermore, and Manowar are must-haves for any serious metal collection.
I need to see if I can lure my corp's CEO in here; he's the metalhead. I'm just the assistant junior metalhead.
