Was stated it will never be a ship that can out mine a hulk anyway. It is to be something other than a capital miner Sig removed as it lacks EVE-related content. Mail [email protected] if you have questions. -Hango

Yeah the ORE Capital Ship is not a mining vessel, we know that much as fact. Oveur is on record as saying it is an industrial ship.
Beyond that, it's mostly been wild rumor and speculation. Devs have teased that they are working on it, and that it 'missed this update, but will be in the next one', but noone has produced any solid stats.
If I recall correctly, a dev stated at one point that they were keeping a close watch on all these speculation threads. Which some could argue that CCP don't have a definite plan, and they are leaving it upto us to create and balance a ship for them.
Anyway, front runners are:
- Mobile refinery ship - Jump-capable mini-freighter - Mini-freighter/large transport (not jump capable) - Mining gang-support vessel - Mobile Factory/Lab
Take your pick.

A ship like this would serious thought put behind it as overpowering it would crash the mineral market. So sorry you wont be getting a ship that eats asteroids and ****s megacyte. However I would imagine a ship that acts as a mobile platform for miners to operate from would not be too far fetched , ie a large cargo hold ,strong tank , gang mods and a ship hanger or something.

well... i think they should have level 5 mining exhumer almost the same as the hulk BUT u get a choice of what extra the ship can take with it e.g. attach a portable refiner or alot bigger cargo hold. the ship should have a number of different attachment that you can choose to fit of unfit depending on what u wish to do.
limit the ship to only 1 attachment to encourage group mining. so to be able to get more of there ship attachments working out on the belts.

ORE Capital Ship
Cargohold the same as a freighter. Ship bonuses focusing on refining ore in its cargohold...or something.

hmmmmm.....
If that ship would be a mini freighter ( 200k cargo ) with jump drive and mining bonus to gang.
That would make it a must have for every 0.0 corp

Seriously though.
A ship like that would be the end of empire based Trit and Scordite mining.
We all know if someone manages to mine the moon sized lumps of Veld in 0.0 Trit prices would plummet to a shallow grave.

only if there would be a better way bringing it to empire than a freighter/titan convoy ...

Or maybe it might move more base capital construction into 0.0. Where it belongs.

I agree. I can see no point to it. Back in the day before POS it would have made sense but now if you have control of a 0.0 area it'd likely be cheaper to just toss up a POS in the systems you mine a lot. I cannot imagine a mobile refinery would do it better than a POS could not to mention the POS offers a place of safety if bad guys show.
For low sec forget it. While this thing may have a huge amount of shields and/or armor it'd be dead meat and a primary target. If word got out one was hanging in a belt pirates would run from 10 jumps all around to have at it. The ship is likely to cost a billion+...who the hell would risk that to get a crappy refine in a belt?

Seriously seriously?
Probably for the same reason people mine....because they chose to do so.
