Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 29/01/2004 22:05:18 Below are 3 examples of the new in-space ship colours.
They are marvellously idiotic.
Example #1:
http://www.frothy.org/images/dont shoot him-1.jpg
This fine example shows a member of [TPFM] - The People's Front of Minmatar. Curse Alliance member (note the -10 security rating) and also a naughty boy (notice the -0.1 security rating)with a pretty yellow ship symbol. Nothing wrong with this picture and is unlikely to result in any mistakes.
Example #2:
http://www.frothy.org/images/dont shoot him-2.jpg
In this example we see Edawg of [c0w] - Carebears on Weed. He has a -10.0 standing and a slightly negative security rating too. His ship symbol is red, the colour normally reserved for enemies you are at war with and therefore can shoot in Empire Space. EV are not at war with [c0w].
Example #3:
http://www.frothy.org/images/shoot shoot him.jpg
This example shows Fenix UA of [RUS] - RUS. We are at war with this pilots corporation and he has a neutral/positive security rating. As you can see, the ship icon is orange.
CCP, do you not feel you have made the orange/red colours far too close considering the vastly different reactions you'd get from shooting either coloured-icon in Empire?
No mistakes were made by myself this time but it could so easily have happened.

Edawg is not an outlaw. He has a -0.3 rating.
If a negative rating is meant to produce such a red colour, please explain why Frosty of [TPFM] who has the exact same circumstances (-10.0 corp rating and negative security rating) is a different colour.

Why can't it be something simple like:
Same Corporation - green Gang Member - blue At war with - orange Outlaw (i.e security rating of -10.0 down to -5.0) - purple Bad corporation/personal standing - yellow
No room for confusion there.

I just really dislike how close the orange and red are.
Try getting an example in a solar system with a background that is mainly red.

I just hope to God CCP pay attention.
Changing the shape of ship icons is the best idea EVER.

It really needs fixing - the colours are so messed up that corporations have to be recognised by corp. ticker and thats just not suitable when you want to react quickly to a possible threat.
