It can only fit on command ships or motherships. You can only fit one on a ship and it takes a 8 minute cooldown. There's a Remote Ecm Burst Variant called Remote Drone Control Computer Disruptor. It does the same thing as Drone Control Computer Disruptor, except it works on all ships in the targeted ship's radius (6 km). Takes 10 min for cool down and can only fit 1.

Sounds overpowered.
More reasonable would be a "drone link disruptor" or something that would have a percentage chance to reduce drone range or otherwise inhibit their control. -...

we don't need a module to do what drones are already doing.
fix drones before making them harder to use!

hehe i LOVE the idea of a drone jamming device:P but 5minutes is a bit over the top, say 30-1min sec for each succes, much like the normal jamming device and a bit longer becouse drone's where never meand as prime weaponry. should ofcouse be a balance against carriers. so if you said that each succes would jam 5 drones (then was stackable, then you would have balance there to ;) )
OW the flaming :P WHAAT!!!!! ARE YOU ACTUALLY SUGGESTING TO NERF SOMETHING TOTALLY AND REDICULESLY OVERPOWERING?!?!?!!?! YOU MOST BE CRAZY!!! I DIDN'T TRAIN GELLENTE NOT TO BE OVERPOWERED IN ANY PVP ASPECT OF THE GAME!!! hmpf :P (sarcasm

A better idea, but as a drone user if it was ingame i'd hate it.
Reduced Control Radius Reduction in Damage Boost Reduction in Speed Boost
are all reasonable possible effects that could be applied, but an effect that knocks drones into 'Inactive' is over the top.

I'd like an EW module that reduces drone reaction time when used on the drone's owner. When they get a new order, it takes five or ten seconds for them to react. That way, you can kill the drones without them zipping back and recharging as soon as your first volley touches them, but they aren't useless.

I'd personally like some form of protection from drones. EW boat vs drones. Who will win? An ECM burst or smartbomb, might fix it...but seriously...EW on drones ftw.

So fit a smartbomb ? Its bad enought for drone users u whiners.
Most funny part is that would work on carriers =D ---

Drones are already not following orders, they suicide themselves time to time...
Well, something disrupting totally the drones for 5 minutes is way way overpowered. Such thing doesn't exist for guns, missiles or ships themselves... The remote ECM burst of carriers is 20 secs long...
You know, doomsdays devices kills drones too... Maybe you search for something like that.
What can be done is disrupting the communications between the ship and the drones, but drones have AI, so, they will continue doing exactly what the AI tells them to do. There could be a "drone link dampener" or "drone link jammer" working much like the sensor dampener on the drone control range or like an ECM on the drone link.
PS : the "drone link randomizer" which tells drones to mess around on other targets already exists. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! The Vexor Navy Issue is much more fun than the Myrmidon !

My reply to your initial idea to have mod that stops drones dead- just no.
My idea in response to this- maybe a module that temporarily breaks the link to drones for just a few microseconds, resulting in their backup AI kicking in and returning them to their owner. That way they're not sitting dead in space, but there's still some way to counter them.
Although, to be quite honest, I agree with many of the previous posters. They need to make drone control easier/less buggy before they start making it harder.

Edited by: Petrothian Tong on 30/07/2007 20:19:57 Sure,
you can have that when I get modules that will shut down your guns, missiles, reppers and such...
oh and yeah, let me blow off your guns too...
btw, smart bombs are ebil vs drones...
or your own light drones =P
btw: drones are already very buggy as it is.. the AI can be very naughty at times...
