Just a few questions about the test server.
1. How do i log into it.
2. What exactly can i do on the test server. As far as being able to test ships without losing lots of money, and do i need the skills to use things on the test server?

To log into the test server you need to copy your EVE folder and paste it again (give it a new name). Then you need to download any available test patches from here and proceed to log in with your account. If your account was inactive during the last test server mirror, then it will be inactive on the test server and you won't be able to log in.
The idea of the test server is for you to fly to a certain system (I can't remember what it's called but it will have a huge mass of people in it so check the map), and do some stuff. Everything that is on the market costs 100 ISK. From ammo to Archons (I don't actually know if there are any carriers on the market there).

The system is FD-MLJ, and all but motherships and titans are seeded there.

I seem to be having trouble connecting to the test server. I cant find the patch from the current release i have to the one i need for it to be compatible. I even tried dling the whole client agian and it dl with the most current patch.

The main idea of the test server is tha tit is used to test for bugs in the game. A good number of people use it to test ship set up, play with things the can't get on the normal server or see how some rules work (aggression in hi sec against the NPC convoy for example).
What you can't do on the test server: attack other players ouside of the Fd system, and even there only in the designate areas, unless the battle is accepted by the other player (on the test server PvP is ONLY consensual), and killpod another player.
If you use the test serve to learn about particular parts of the game you normally can't access and you notice some bug, please do a bug report.
