Since "clearing the cache" is recommended for so many problems, I'd really like to see CCP implement a mechanism for doing that...a simple cache clearing button would be nice. Yes, users can look on the forums and figure out how to do it manually, but it seems like a basic function that should be included.
A tool for backing up and saving user settings would be convenient as well.
Of course, I suppose future patches would mess up these tools and users would still need to "fix" things manually.... *sigh*

I'm sure you could write a script to backup and restore your settings, and to flush your cache.
I'm sure I could also study computer programming and try to build my own version of Eve that actually works, too. But that's not the point.
Users shouldn't have to "go under the hood" to deal with these very basic and universal problems. I used to have to experiment with various boot disks, bat & ini files, etc in order to get games running back in the DOS days. The less of that sort of thing, the better. Let's not turn the clock back to 1994.
Since virtually everyone needs to flush their cache once in a while, it should be a feature built into the game. If it's so frickin' easy that every noob is expected to be able to write their own scripts, it shouldn't be any trouble at all for professional programmers to build it into the game. And it would probably mean less work for the GMs who troubleshoot user problems if they could just tell people to click a simple button.
