Edited by: Mina Chaos on 31/07/2007 15:22:47 I wanted to ask the EVE community if they have encountered this POS behavior before (if so maybe direct me to links).
I have a combat orientated POS in low sec, and with my newly acquired Starbase Defense Management skill took control of one of the turrets of said POS to "see" how it works. I got to see the interface and nothing special.
My gang was at the POS at the time and the gang leader asks "Mina, why are you targetting me?" I replied to him I was not, then he started swearing. The POS proceeded to shoot his ship which he warped out. Then the POS began targeting other gang members. The command was issued to eject from their ships to save themselves (since the warp scrambler was active too). Then all of our jaws dropped when the POS did not stop there and shot the at the ejected ships (blowing one of them up) and began targetting pods?!?!
I have filed a bug report about this. After we shut down all the guns and took off the combat tickers on the tower management the POS is behaving now.
Post analysis was this: 1. Some people had agro but not all.
2. I had fully disengaged in controliing 1 turret when I was practising after which the POS when beserk.
3. We had agression aainst ourselves with timers, it was quite bizzar event for us.
Any suggestions or possibilities as to what happened?

Edited by: Petrothian Tong on 01/08/2007 02:41:58 anyone did any remote repping, energy transfers, repper drones etc?...
but yeah, is normal for POS to shoot ships that are unmanned,
is fun watching the fireworks of a POS shooting up 40 shuttles that you jettisoned =P

Nifty, now that we have the precedent:
1) Train up SDM, while telling in corp chat otherwise. Get POS accesses roles due some fueling excuse. 2) Once idling in POS waiting for op, take control of a few big guns + scrambler, and kill as many annoying mates as you can 3) Prof...start wondering what happened, deny your participation, and point people to this thread.

Well I am guessing no one has seen this happen before.
No I did not shoot my people because I had a screw loose, besides I had skill level 1 (means 1 turret) the whole POS was firing so not likely.
Well, lets hope the petitions and bug reports stir soemthing up.

4. The POS definitely targeted pods, which we thought was impossible.
This is an old bug that has resurfaced about 3 to 4 patches ago. It usually happens at stations by the sentry guns, but it seems to have also moved to pos's from your post.
Any one that got poded, have them file a petition for it and they should get there lost implants back.

Acually yes something simular happened to me last week. I was at my POS and an enemy warped in. I took control of a gun and began to target him but he warped out before I could get a lock. So I didn't fire at anything. Afterwards I left the bubble and my POS blew up my ship. I filed a petition and after about 8 times explaining that I had not fired the guns, only assumed control, CCP finally replaced my ship.
I tried desparatley to tell them there was something wrong with the POS agressing me in the first place, however they seemed like they didn't want to listen or had time to deal with it. So from what I can see assuming control of your POS guns will agress the POS and it will fire on you.
Also I'm having serious problems with my POS not agressing enemies when they warp in. I have had several enemies warp to my POS and sit there for 2-3 minutes and nothing happens even tho I have it set to fire on them.

Sorry to hear of your loss but YAY!!! someone else encountered this problem. Our corp members are running into problems with our petitions too. It seems there is nothing wrong that can be detected in that situation, but we are bucking the revieiwer of the petition to go higher up the chain of command. because even if nothing can be dectected as "wrong" the POS should NOT open fire on its own corporation members!
If there are other instances like this please post here, because if this is a real problem we need more evidence so that this does not look like a crazy people firing on their own corp members.

Do you have the shoot on standings settings ticked on your control tower defense tab?

We did, but it was set properly for the people in the corp. We've had the POS for a long while and it never did this before, not until someone had a working SDM skill working.

Yeah I had my pos set right. Only shoot if corp standing is lower than 0.1 is what I had it set to. Nothing else checked so it should have shot the neutral but it should not have shot me.
Not to sound condesending, but I have been using POS's for more than a year and know how to set them up. This is a bug imo and needs looking into.

Hmm.. I don't have a POS to try this out with, but in my experience, you have to do all the legwork for a bug / petition..
First question: were you in a gang with all your corp members? if so, when you took control of the gun, you may have started aggro, and you gang also was included in this. Once your gang had aggro, was your POS set to fire on Aggro or whatever..
Again.. just shooting in the dark here..

Yes, I was in the gang and tower did not have aggro shooting clicked. I do have to ask why would taking control of a POS cause agro when it is my corps POS? I have worked with POS for a while and this bug just confuses me.
Again, please post here is your allaince or group have encountered this problem. I am hearing through the g*****vine that other alliances have experienced this problem.
Let get this all sorted out if possible.

It hapened to me too. Ive just arrived at the pos to swap ships. I took my raven out of the ship hangar and as soon as i enter the ship the tower locks me and started shooting me. We had member of ours controlling the tower a few minutes before, but he was not there anymore. The tower just went mad. Its a bug certanly. Either way ive petition the lost, and i got the same bull*** response as ever ( We are unable to ....) . Nice work CCP. Keep hurting the comunity
