It never ends I'm always buying a new headset. My latest headset is a Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000. It was a great headset until after 1 month of use, the left earphone began cutting off. This forces me to finangle my cord to reactivate it again. Useually I'd think nothing of it but, I've done nothing but baby this brand new $40 Headset and the stupid device breaks on me inside of a month of use.
Now I have 2 Headset companies on my absolute DO NOT BUY LIST:
Platronics Microsoft
Is there a good headset out there that will give me good sound quality and doesn't have a cord that breaks connection by natural gravity? http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=554995 |

If you still have the receipt for the MS headset i would take it back to the shop. 1 month is not good enough. Maybe it was just a duff unit and the replacement will be okay.

For voice comms I use a bluetooth hands free kit I had with my mobile phone. For general gaming I did usea set of Creative HS-600 which were nice until the kids with elephant feet got hold of them

not sure where you are from but here is another tip.
Stay away from big box electronics retailers. They usually just sell crap that is good enough for grammas pc. Go find a small reputable pc shop and tell them you want to buy a high quality usb headset with mic for under 100 bones (what ever currency you use) taxes in. Lets us know what they say :)

I've been using the same Mic for about 4 years I think.
It is the one that comes with SOCOM: U.S. Navy Seals.
I plugged it into my computer and it worked!

I use a separate mic, one of those you clip on to the shirt (or headphones cable).
Then I have headphones that beat the living crap out of any lame "headset" out there.

I've got a set of these - http://www.steelseries.com/int/products/audio/5hv2
I'm quite happy with them for music and voice comms. Depends whether you mind big cans or not.
