The smartest thing Khanid ever did was secede from the Empire. However, the fact that he's rejoined and now wants to rule it can only mean that he's not so smart after all. _

I believe that this hypothetical question no doubt requires compliance with a number of ifs...
IF the Khanid Kingdom was to renounce it's 'independance'...
IF Khanid II were to comply with tradition and end his life...
IF the people of Khanid were to recognise the authority of the True Amarr and the absolute authority of the Emperor...
THEN PERHAPS the Khanid Bloodline may potentially gain the oppertunity to prove their worth in the trials. Until these conditions are met I do not see how the failures of Khanid II to carry out his duty can be truly condoned.
You are making an erroneous assumption if you think Khanid will obey the letter of the law to become Emperor.
If he makes the bid for power you can be assured that it will not be through the courts, rather through force of arms.
I am quite sure that Khanid II would not make such a foolish and ultimately fatal mistake.

I do not presume to speak on behalf of the Empire, such a thing would indeed be shameful.
A civil war was fought between the Empire and Khanids followers - I do not think Khanid II was in any doubt that his actions were rebellious in nature.
The official policy of the Amarr Empire has never been to reward the actions of traitors. I simply describe the policiy of the Empire, I do not make it.
My own feelings are quite in accordance with these policies, I believe. While I would like nothing more than to see the Khanid Region reunited with the Empire, it cannot happen while the traitor is still alive.
For the sake of the people of the Khanid held space he should hurry up and do what he was supposed to do all those years ago.
However the Khanid are also sure that what Khanid did was warranted as they believe there was a breach of protocol. Would that happen in the courts it would be deemed a mistrial and the findings would be deemed invalid.
I am not aware of what incident they believe was the breach of protocol however.
Originally by: Tablaren I find it presumptious that any capsuleer would dare to think it was his place to answer a petition of this sort.
You are aware that this "petition" you speak of is formulated as follows:
Originally by: Silas Vitalia "We demand..."
Yes the petition should have been worded with more thought. Especially because of who the petition is being aimed at "glares" However it should be understandable when it's regarding ones liege that they would be rather passionate in their arguements.

Or if he did raise his concerns before then, then why did the other three heirs not agree with him?
If Khanid did indeed consider there to have been a breach of protocol, then why did he simply rebel rather than take his concerns to the proper authorities? Why did he not request arbitration from the Speakers of Truth?

Was there really a breach of protocol? Or isn't it more likely that none of the other heirs, the Theology Council or the Sucession Committee saw a problem with the way that the trials were conducted?
And if none of those groups saw a problem with the way that the trials were committed, then can't we conclude that in fact there was no problem with the trials?

I seek a united Kingdom and Empire and will do anything to achieve this that does not require force. So far this seems a peacful approach by the Kingdom and I fully give my support even with my affiliation with the Empire's Navy. The Khanid have succeeded in making excellent technological advances with our Caldari allies. Our ships were becoming outdated despite our size in numbers, yet Khanid Innovations has provided us with a means to upgrade our forces and provide the most powerful navy in the universe. Khanid still hold the Empire's core values even if they have their differences.

I find it disturbing when the core reasoning and explanations for a given topic seem to be changing and mutable by the dark amarrians speaking about this topic.
Dark amarrs intrest in technology seems to be at least by these few statements becoming more important than actual faith in traditions and in God itself. Dark Amarr technology seems to be in my eyes just whoring the amarrian priciples and engineering achievements on an ungodly pedastal.
As for what comes to the... power of the Kingdom's navy. I mean pretty please its nothing in comparison to the Holy Empire, probably less than any forces possibly fielded by even any two of the Houses.
I do not dispute the poisonous fruits of forgetting your heritage and being desperately craving for technological advancements and forgetting old traditions, afterall the dark amarr did that for just attempting to survive after being driven out of the Holy Empire.
What bothers me is to claim or assume for those that hold the traditions true still to take the rotten path they have taken themselfs.

Ah, the glorious, beautiful sound of Amarrians beating their thighs at each other and preparing for a punch up. Your internal struggles are far worse than any that the Minmatar Republic suffers. Can you not see that there is no glorious Reclaiming coming? Can't you see that the glory days of the Empire are long past? We're the future. Amarrians are history.
There's no wondrous utopia awaiting Amarr - only cold decay and oblivion as the more enlightened empires forget about you. Perhaps you would do well to recognise this fact, stop wishing for the past to become the present, and bring your Empire into this century. Release your slaves. I don't care if you rule by democracy or by your current despotic system, but give us back our own, and we'll leave you alone - to better yourselves, or to kill each other.
----- I think it's little enough to ask that every Amarrian roll over and die so I can live in my vision of a perfect world. |

I've always been cautious about the issue of succession of Khanid II to his rightful position as Emperor, feeling that his majesty would pick a time of his own choosing.
However it is increasingly obvious the Empire will not survive in its current condition without some sort of intervention
Historical "facts" aside, Khanid II is more than proven in his actions since breaking away from the Empire and in the Kingdom he has build:
* Technological advancements to more than rival those of its much larger neighbour
* Morally strong society, able to interact with foriegn interests without succumbing to the decadence and degredation that those people might seek to bring with them
* Strong economic base, despite recent downturn, able to trade and profit from its neighbours and attract investment from abroad without sacrificing control of stations or space.
You wouldn't want for a better candidate were you looking for the CEO of some megacorporation. Please don't tell me you would have anything less than the perfect man for the job, for a position that will affect not just customers and sales executives, but every member of society from bottom up?

I would tread lightly if I were you Khanid Provincial Authority, I belive we have been down this path before, and your insistance in this matter is simply out of the question. You king iss not supposed to be alive, he was supposed to perform a sacred duity, and he is more then aware of what that duity was and what he did.
I would like to see the Khanid return to the Amarr political realm, but as long as your current king is alive, I see no hope for this. Perhaps once he has died and your people renounce his actions. . .perhaps then there will be some kind of reconciliation. ----

As a foreigner I say this merely as a observation.
Even should Khanid take his life to appease the process of unification, look how long the Empire has gone without a leader.
Would we be expected to doom our prosperous kingdom to the same, leadershipless fate?
Even the faithful of PIE clamor for a new Emperor.... it seems hardly feasible that the life of Khanid has postponed this process, or that should he take his own life for the purpose of unity that it would somehow expedite the process.
Forgive us for not rushing to see him throw his rule away on the promise that even the Empire hasn't delivered.

If our King does perform the his Sacred Duty, the incident on the Doriam Kor-Azor inauguration by the Sarum Loyalist would be pale compare to our, since King Khanid II was command-in-chief. It would has result in a unheard of a Coup to save him or a long civil war being lead by the loyalist to elect the Khanid Heir on the throne, if King Khanid II die at that time.
With King Khanid Death at that Time, it would have sealed the fate of Amarr Empire downfall. The Amarr-Jove Conflict would have a much higher death toll that would been unheard of since it would have all more ships to lose instead of being confiscated to escort the Titan to Khanid Kingdom.
With the Khanid Kingdom never being formed and the Minmatar Uprising, the Amarr Empire would have been much smaller. Since King Khanid save The Order of St Tetrimon from Emperor Heideron VII Decree for the death of the Order. And the Order was the driving force that stop the Minmatar Uprising from striking more deeply into the empire.
Khanid has wisdom in seeing what is needed to be done to save the Amarr Empire from the corruption that plague the ruling system.
Thus King Khanid II prove he was the rightful ruler to be at that time, and by separating from the empire, he has save the Amarr empire may time. Saving many ship that would have been lost to Amarr-Jove Conflict, save a Scared Order that Emperor Heidorn VII order to die and save the Empire from further downfall by the Minmatar uprising.
In full our King has earn the right that should had been his, but taken away due to the corruption that surround and hinder the legal action to take place. Thus resulting in his action that would later lead to as the needed action to safe-guard the Amarr Empire from being destroy from internal or external force.

I still await an answer to my query.
What gives the KPA the idea that Khanid II even wants such a deal as presented here?
If I am missing something, then I would like to know, but if I am not this entire discussion is moot.
In fact, this entire discussion is moot regardless, because if Khanid II does wish such a deal that will be between him, the other heirs, the Theology Council, and God.
We exist to serve, not to rule. This is true of the KPA as well, no?

Would you be so kind as to tell me where you got the information that this would be an acceptable solution to Khanid II?
If I understand correctly, his civil war was from his belief that he was the rightfull Emperor.
Why would someone deluded to thinking he has already won the trials want to submit to them again?
Would that not be an admission that he failed the first time and therefor has no right to be alive right now?
King Khanid II stand as the only House that can save the Amarr Empire from further downward spiral to ruin. While the old way have been held to follow tradition, it has often fallen onto the current Emperor to make what tradition should be keep or law to be upheld. Mad Emperor Zaragram II of House Ardishapur, twist the tradition to his whims. And tradition Held that no one to touch the Emperor, yet one did to end the Mad Emperor, and was branded as St. Tetrimon instead as Traitor to the Empire.
King Khanid II may seek to be represent or not or even seek as the role of the Hidden Protector the Amarr Empire. In all, the unjust to label our King as Traitor has prove to be false that need to be clear, for why a traitor would dare to save a Empire that seek the end of the new Kingdom.
King Khanid place as a Rightful ruler has been proven in this establishment of the Kingdom against an Empire that more then four time its size. His action on saving a religious Order that should have been brand as traitor for not being dissolve. Yet it is this Order that help save an empire with only a small size of a fleet when compare to the might of the Amarr Fleets that cannot even stop the Minmatar Uprising without the aid from the Order that King Khanid save.
Any new Emperor would try to hold the throne as long as possible, even if it mean the downfall of the empire. Submitting to another trails would be a sign that the New emperor feel confident that he God is on his side, but it would be a risky gamble that most would not want to wager with. In the current state of the Amarr Empire, it would weaken the Amarr further to seek an official war between Amarr and Khanid, while it may held little impact against he Khanid Kingdom.
King Khanid II may have forfeit his scared duty to follow tradition. His crime is pale compare to other in history. But on that crime he had keep the Empire alive. The current Emperor may one day be brand as traitor when he decide to break the tradition and allow all slave to be free, which may lead a Second Uprising. When that happen who does the Amarr Empire would seek for help. Not the Order of St Tetrimon, they are traitor still, not the Khanid Kingdom when the offer could be easly offer. The Caldria may not interfere if it consider as interal matter only or due to the narrow corridor that the Galletine and Minmatar held.
In all, we wish for Our King to be no longer branded as traitor and seek legal representation for the House as Heir, that been deny to the Amarr People.

The Privy Council consist of 15 member of Houses, and there are 5 major that hold the most influence. With each member of the houses seeking to make the best of the situation, there are bound to be those that would seek to silence the doubt from other member of the Council. With these happening, the protocol that needed to be done are hinder or lost in the system and be too late to stop.
If he did bring it to everyone, the other members claim its as a shameful full act with no solid legal proof to discredit other the fair chance to the trails.
The Speaker of the Truth has no power over the Privy Council, if they are to retain their arbitrator power unchallenged. In effect, they can not go against anyone that would cause the interference from the Privy Council or the Theology Council.
His Brother, may have seen him as a rash Leader of the House and feared for the safety of the House of any chance to return. While at the same time, as a chance to prove he is more capable head of the family then his Brother.
As for the action that can be taken by the Privy Council and the Theology Council. The Privy Council seek to improve their family house by any mean and may of those have back-door deal that many did not know their partner are even doing it behind then. For the Theology, they are to enforce the Emperor decree on the religious ground and that of the empire, thus they have no saying in political matter. Same go with the Speaker of the Truth as they are the enforce only on moral and religious, not on the political matter.

To fully follow tradition and that none oppose would be the downfall of the Amarr Empire. The Mad Emperor Zaragram Ardishapor should not have been kill by his grandson and his new way of life for the empire should have been that of the way of Sani Sabik. The affair of the Aritco Kor-Azor should not be interfere by the Speaker of the truth, and his mistreat of people and the dead of many should be treat as his Right as tradition.
King Khanid II does not follow those tradition or those of any who have saved the empire before. The old saying has been that slavish adherence to tradition is the sign of a weak mind. And those weak mind has never to oppose if none wish for the change of it as a single.

Easy, One member of the Privy Council does not matter against the majority of the Council. Articio may have made enemy within the Council or the action may have degrade the image of the House. That why King Khanid II case would be the same fate of Articio Kor-Azor.
No one can face the united front from the Emperor, the Privy Council and the Theology when they give the approve for the Speaker of the Truth to face a member of the Council.
Would you have face the same situation, knowing your corp hold the evidents to name of the Corrupt members and present the case on it?
Would you be assure that they will give fair trials, Knowing that the person may happen to be relate to the Emperor House, or the person happen to have connection that would link to more member if they chose rise against that person?
Would you feel that your corp be welcome to the Empire and be protected by the Speaker of the Truth and not worry about the wrath from the Emperor and both of the Councils, which may label you as traitor and order the death of the corp?
The same thing can be said that is the reason behind the Order of St Tetrimon. They have the truth, but fail due to the Decree by the Emperor Heidron VII.
As for the rest of Articio, they allow to bend some rule for him to continue as the head of his House. Giving a possible change for Articio of becomeing the new Emperor, which none believe possible. But if it does, Articio will Punish the Theology and the Speak for the humiliation on harming the future Emperor.

At first, while it is true that our God does grant longevity to his chosen Emperor, we must note that Khanid is very old. Though he still does have time to fullfill his duties as a failed heir and commit suicide. Perhaps then could his heir be taken into account when a new Emperor is elected. If he dies as a rebellous heretic, then I cannot see that his spawn would have any part in the Succession, though I could imagine that they would be allowed back to the Empire as vassals.
Secondly, while many of the Khanid people live in the Kingdom, by no means there is an equality sign between the people and the region. Many Khanid are still loyal subjects of the Empire, and their true home world is Amarr Prime. Similarily, the highest leaders of the Kingdom are of Amarr bloodline.
Thirdly, while the Khanid have strived to become Caldari what comes to ships - and are alledgedly succeeding quite well in this - the Empire has not been idle, either. Many do seem to be quite excited about the ships of the Khanid Innovations, but the Empire has both Viziam and Carthum to work for herself. As far as I know, at least the Zealot class is being mass-produced as the next service cruiser of the Empire, an even match to the Kingdom's Sacrilege flagship heavy cruiser and possibly even to its Damnation class command vessels, should they be taken out to the fight. I do not claim to know the plans of the Ministry of War, but I'd assume that the Zealot would replace the Maller as the frontline heavy cruiser. The Imperial Navy is already as big as the two next-largest navies - Khanid Navy being neither of those. It is already the strongest known stellar military force, and once the retrofitting and the construction of newly commissioned ships is complete, it will be an unrivalled power in the cluster.

I ask myself this.
Will there be war between the paramilitaries of the Kingdom and the Empire?
We all know that the navies are rendered impotent by the polices of CONCORD.
Perhaps the Amarr Bloc will consider the Khanid Region to be assimilated next into their little sovereignty as the Empire rots away.

Ms. Bloodstone:
I see that you want Khanid II to take the path outlined by KPA.
I do not see anything suggesting that Khanid II wants anything of the sort.
I would ask both sides of this debate to show some decorum.

I would ask of you, sir: Who is the one more fit to rule? The one who is able but unwilling or the impotent tyrant grasping for power? Obviously, such as in Aritcio's case, he was willing (and thoroughly enjoyed) ruling but was obviously unfit.
Just because Khanid II is not seeking rulership does not preclude him from such a post. Rather, it makes him that much more desirable a candidate. Ultimately, our personal desires are irrelevant as God shall direct our paths despite our own wishes.
