Well I tried MANY MMO but quit them all after several days since they are just plain repeative as hell is hot.
Dont get me wrong, I am/was a RPG addict but when I started EVE I got hooked bad.
You can play what ever role you fancy and you are not bound by any specific rules other than not cheating.
So in my limited MMO expiriance I think EVE is the the single best online game that has been made so far and I doubt any game will be made in the nearest future that can top it.
Sure peaple will leave to explore the new games but they will come back, I know loads of peaple that quit for some time to try other games but most of them already came back and I suspect that others will come soon.
The main problem with this game now is not lag or bugs, its the lack of new players, CCP needs to advertice the game more, just imagine to have 30k peeps online at any given time. Spawn of the Devil

Don't get me wrong, I'm not someone who opts for pressing spacebar to get a fresh setup. But as an example with my current play time to replace my ship and mods (no named mods even)
Frigate: 1 day Cruiser: 2-3 days Battleship: 20-30 days
So if I wanted to get all my named mods back as well then triple the above times.
Of course that doesn't take into account implants which would add about 20 days to earn the money for a fresh set of 5.
So just by the amount I play per day all that I can do really is stick to lopsided battles where I know I won't be losing anything or simply not PvP.
But I'm not going to fly around in a frigate all day just so I can be one-shotted.
ouch you should join a corp or switch corps. We built 2 battleships in the last 5 days.
He can replace his ship within minutes with the help of his corp.
What he means is that for a single person it can take forever to replace lost ships and items.
It¦s a very thin line between having things easy to get and to hard.
To easy makes PVP pretty much loose its fun factor since you cant really hurt your enemy.
To hard and no one will do PVP for long.
Both cases will destroy the market system and the game will die.
EVE is very very balanced in that aspect atm. Spawn of the Devil

I stoppped reading there sorry I'm far from being a carebear, but if they don't want to they shouldn't have to and this philosophy fits perfectly in games.

You're right that is what I meant.
And it does depend on the player. I'm sure there are plenty of players who could replace their losses within hours not days. But that is going to be tied to one degree or another to one's play time.
Since easy and hard are both comparative one needs to qualify what they mean.
Personally when I first started playing I would clock in 1-3 hours per night and more on the w/e. However lately I'm down to 10-30 min per day and once in awhile when I feel especially inspired I'll play for as much as 2 hours.
That doesn't make the game wrong or anyone else for that matter. It just simply IS. One's role choices in eve will, to one degree or another, be dictated by the amount of play time.

Get rid of the super highways. (minimicrobaby highways maby?)
anyway that would fix alot. And make everyone happy except the small amount of traders and cross country travelers.
Another firm beleif i have is that once player owned stations become available no one will WANT to go to the other side of the galaxy when you can defend you own system. Besides it would be less work for some nodes. --------------------------------------------

Quote: A very oneside view my friend...This game has NEVER been branded PvP explicitly.
Immerse yourself in the vast virgin territories of EVE where power is the Holy Grail and the ultimate aphrodisiac. Conceive a new life without boundaries, where murder, plunder, betrayal and delusions of grandeur will lead you to boundless glory or the brink of ruin. The galaxy is yours to control if you have the brains, strength, and cunning to succeed.
I dunno, I think from the box blurb it's pretty obvious it's a PVP game, unless you plan on building friendships to fight NPCS by betraying and murdering people, and controlloing the galaxy with love and affection.
