I make 10-20mill an hour if im consistant on doing missions and salvaging. But that gets EXTREMELY boring sometimes.. [espicially in a caracal] =\ So I ask.... what are some COMBAT oriented things I can do to increase cash flow... I cant tank gate guns so thats out of the question and I cant seem to find any systems with miners anymore =\ If I had a decent BC [yet another drake] I would kill these major rat spawns but.... Thats out of the question... Please help =(

Well, you've unfortunately got two choices when it comes to making money ratting: 1) Train up battleships, and run level 4's 2) Join a 0.0 alliance, train up battleships, rat in a -1 system
Both of which will earn you top cash- number 1 is the most consistent, number 2 gives you a chance to be an instant billionaire. Unfortunately, if you're in a caracal and running missions, there's not much you're going to be able to improve on, with bigger ships comes better cashflow

Or you could make money trading and then spend the rest of your time shooting people.
It works pretty well for me.

well, 10-20 millions an hour, doing missions in a caracal (I assume they're level 2 or 3) isn't too bad at all

Combat ways of making money become pretty limited past level 4 (level 5 in groups) missions, or ratting in 0.0 space. The real money is made from the industrial and trading side of the game. Although if you are lucky you might get a really nice NPC spawn that drops some rare modules that you can sell for lots of money. Or maybe you ganked someone who had these nice modules or something. But consistent high cash flow is really only available to the carebeary side.

I@m going to start folloing Hex around and copying him. Trading rocks. Takes 10-15 minutes to sort out your orders and you don't even need to be in a station. Yo ucan be travelling on your mery way to trouble.
Mine and market.
Sit in a gate camp and play the market.
Scout and play the market.
You get the idea, possibilities are endless. Well not really endless but it's a dman site less work and more flexibilty than most options in this game.

I bet by now people are thinking to themselves, "Damn, this market stuff sounds awesome, fast, and the best way to make me a multi-gazillionaire!"
Not so fast kiddies.
What I didn't mention before, and neither did Jade, is that being a trader takes two CRITICAL things.
1) Nerve 2) Brains
Playing the market requires you to actually think about what your doing. Good luck!

Odd, I done plenty and plenty of missions and salvaged everything and never made 20mil in a Caracal.
How you make 20mil with a Caracal ?
The most i've made with a Caracal is doing lvl 2 missions and only making 2mil inc salvage. -----------------------------------------------
Come on you apes, you wanna live forever?

I'd like to know too. Sounds like I'm wasting my time mining in .05+ space if I can make that much running missions. -------

Do you salvage in you caracal? If yes I suggest training up destroyers and using one to do your salvaging. More high slots & speed means faster salvaging, means more isk/hr, means less boring.

Do industry on an alt, make your money passively and just supervise the process.

I have a couple of questions for you.
I have been looking into trading, but I just do not get it. I have several million to "invest" and the industrial to haul, but everything that I see in markets (i.e. buy low and sell high) do not amount ot much cash. Maybe a couple hundred thousand for a 5-8 jump run.
I am obviously missing something here. What type of things do you trade? Do you ship across the solar system to make money? Or are you just making a few hundred thousand at a time shipping less than 10 jumps away?
Any insight would be GREAT!!

You often won't find sizeable price differences within the same region for many items, or even within adjacent regions... think about how the game works, everyone needs missile launchers in caldari space, not as many will need them in gallente space, is there an opportunity there?
that example is deliberately flawed, because as has been said, you need to think... and it's worth so much more when you find your own profitable trades :)
Secondly are you just looking at items that are being sold at a low price (sell orders)? you'll make more ISK setting up your own buy orders, and you won't be handing profit to your competition either.
as a general rule aquire items through buy orders, and sell them through sell orders.

I never haul anything. Ever. I refuse to.
My way of trading is MUCH different than what you think of as trading. It takes money, it takes guts, and it takes knowing the market.
All my trading is done exclusively through buy and sell orders. I do NOT haul.
Please check the Market forum for more information, tips, hints, etc. =)

Negotiation and connections at lvl 4 helps a he## of alot. I do lvl 1's and 2's in my caracal and IF and ONLY if im consistant at it [means I do with no interuptions at ALL] I can make 10-20mill. Lvl 1 missions gets me 100k-150k in reward most of the time. Lvl 2's 200k in reward+200k in bonuses-400k in reward + 350k in bonuses [Note again this ONLY happens if I am CONSISTANT at this] I salvage all the wrecks while I'm doing the missions so that cuts the salvaging time down alot. I make on average 2mill-8mill salvaging a complete set of missions [mixed with lvl 1's and 2's] So that would be probally 5mill-10mill-20mill. [AGAIN - -=ONLY=- if im consistant at it]
A friend of mines told me about trading =) [And you guys basically reinforced the importance of it] But the only thing I dont understand about trading is...... how are you supposed to get a safe route to a 0.0 to sell oxygen and cargo containers? O_O Fit a cloak to my hauler or something? O_O

Using a Carrier to jump it strait out there is the safest way. If your hauler gets caught in a bubble camp, it is basicly dead, cloak or not. The risk in shipping stuff out to 0.0 is what keeps it potentially profitable by keeping away competition that are focusing on safer ventures.

I'm not that much a fan of trading, too many ******s do it, the kind of guys that will undercut you by 20% or just sell their stuff for some seemingly random number, I do it occaisonally, but I've found it takes that much work that it's simply more profitable ratting.

Market PVP. =)
I love bare-knuckle market PVP, I once completely destroyed nearly all profit margins on a few items...just to force my competitors out. It worked for a while before some new guys came around.
There are some SUPER nasty tricks you can do to people in trading.
