Edited by: Celze Riavarnes on 02/08/2007 03:18:02 Heh 'Ello im a new player to Eve. I started Caldari and I am up to a caracal. Doing level 1 missions and salvaging parts for ISK.
My final goal is to make a decent ammount of ISK, then focus on a races ships for a pvp play style that I shall enjoy most.
I wanted to ask what ship would be good for lockdown fighting. I love this combat method, backing them into a corner, and cutting off all resources. Keeping my opponents at bay and holding them in place. Tormentive eh?
I know there is no best combat ship in EVE, but I want to get something I am comfortable with. I just need some direction on what to stride towards in the future.
~Thanks

Edited by: Gojyu on 02/08/2007 03:29:57 To me, sounds like you're a budding interdictor on minmatar recon pilot.
Interdictors: Deploy things called warp disruption probes, massive spheres that prevent any ship from warping within 20km of the probe. The most common use for them is to put them at the center of a stargate- anything that jumps into the system can't warp out of the bubble, and anything that warps towards the gate is ensnared at the edge
Minmatar Recons: The huginn and the rapier. These ships are recon ships, which means they can fit cloaking devices (the rapier can fit a covops cloak, which means it can warp while cloaked) and have a massive bonus to stasis webifiers. I don't have any hard numbers- but I've heard tales of 100km+ web range using some of the officer webbers
Also, take a look at the curse and pilgrim- amarr recon ships that have bonuses to nos, which suit a lockdown playstyle as well

I am liking the Huginn recon ship.
Thanks for the advice Now I just gotta spend alot of time training to use it XD

Take a look at all the recon ships, they're all pretty good at what you want to do, but they do it in completely different ways. Minmatar dictate range, caldari ecm the person to death, gallente will scramble you from a mile away and prevent you from ever locking onto them and amarr recons are the kings of nos
Oh, and btw, if you're doing level 1 missions in a caracal you're gimping yourself- find a level 2 agent asap, you'll get a ton more isk

Huginn does not do a lot of damage, and it cannot take much of a beating, its a nasty NASTY ship in the right hands though, and while it is capable of solo'ing it can be tricky to pull it off without plenty of experience behind the wheel.
The nastiest up close-and-personal-mobile is currently the dominix, it scrambles you, webs you, nos's you, and leaves you helpless, altho the new nos nerf will effect it a bit its still a very tough nut.

Huginn would be pretty good for what you're looking at, it can completely immobilize and paralyze most opponents with a combination of a warp scram, webs, and sensor dampeners. Then, you take your sweet time to kill them, thing you'd have to watch out for is the potential for them to have backup, but this would be a great pirating technique (I know, I've done it before, just not with Huginns ).
