Hello all and welcome to this tutorial
I just thought I would share some tips on ways to work the agent system where it won't break the bank.
I agree with the general sentiments that the agent system sucks with rewards going down, and some extremely lackluster benefits.
But until the POWERS TO BE listen and make adjustments to bring back some of the FUN in agent missions, here are a few tips and ideas to slightly ease the pain.
(Tip 1) Microwarpdrives. If you do agent missions without these in your ship, you are losing money
(Tip 2) Time your destination. Figure out how much time it takes you to do that 6 jump round trip mission in your fast ship. The time's you get will help you to decide whether to take missions to that location in the future.
Mission locations will cycle to generally the same locations over and over again. If you haven't gotten a mission to timbuktoo after 20 missions, chances are you won't in the future.
(Tip 3) Don't be afraid to turn down missions! Examine your missions destinations and rewards. If you know that the six jump mission pays 25k and gives you 10 shuttles but takes 20 minutes to complete, don't do it. Pass and get some better locations and rewards.
I'm sure there are plenty of other little tips n tricks you can share or know to use your agent more wisely.
If you take a little extra time up front, you can save yourself time and grief in the future.
I have several missions I can do in 13 minutes or less Round Trip, and I simply refuse to do missions that pay crap because of the overall time the mission would take. Because of this, I can make an average of 10,000 ISK per minute with this patch.
Now considering I can make 25,000 ISK per minute mining, this patch stinks patooty. But it's what we have until things get better.

The main point of agent missions is to improve standing. You lose standing refusing missions...

How true, However, If I turn down one mission, but accept the next 2, I'm ahead of the game again!
If I reject a mission, I lose appx 0.20 standing.
Each Mission gains me appx 0.15-0.18 standing.
So, am I afraid to refuse mission because of standing decrease? No way! Overall I will still advance, and make a better profit by choosing my missions.

If you were to refuse every other mission from a standings of over 5.0, eventually that's where you'd become static -- at 5.0 standings.
Over 5.0 standings, refusing one takes more to recover; under 5.0 you can refuse to and recover it with one at the lower levels.
Arbitrarily refusing missions is a bad idea, if you intend to maintain standings.
If all you're after is loot, well... go nuts.

Actually, since percentages are determined by the difference between your standing and -10 for decreases you would stabalize at 0.0 by taking half of the missions, assuming they all gave the same boost.

Actually I was taking into consideration the fact that the % multiplier appears to be roughly 50% for a refused mission -- e.g. 1.15 gain for finish or 0.575 for refusal...

As long as they aren't important missions, I can turn them all down. :) I worked my faction standing up to 3.4 with a level 2 agent, and so now all corps with that faction love me.
I routinely turn down any unsuitable missions. Which is often more than half. And I'm still gaining. I think you can probably turn down 3 and do 1, and you'll still be ahead...

Pick up an agent at the the mission endpoint system. The 'run missions for only one agent' method was only useful pre-Caster.

This is an exploit.

No, Shia, it's not. If it was then you would be FORCED to do ALL missions you look at. The option to refuse missions would be removed also, since it's still there it is NOT an exploit.
I collect ships. Can I have yours? |

I tweaked my first lvl 3 agent in Kaalakiota this way getting tons of skills, components, and cash and raising my caldari faction to a point where she was giving me missions up to the point that I lowered my standing with her to -3.10. After that I had no problem moving to the better agent in the same system as my research agent.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Used to think that was true, I turned down one mission and lost .5, took me all day to get back to where I was.

Ive been with caldari navy got to 9.79 corp fating 4 times now with them and the missions just get worse may get a kill 1 every 5 courier missions which dont intrest me, so i reject them to just under 9.50 and start again seem to get kill missions again but it will take me 2 weeks to get 9.79 again and then start again
Why cant they sort the missions out so that the higher your corp rating is the better missions you get just make more sense that way? As for damsels mission ive only had four so far only 85k ones , and i here people having all these good ones and i bet half of them aint got a higher rating than mine may the force be with YOU at all times... |

Some more tips: If you're asked to do a long haul, or have not enough cargo space, try buy the item in the destination station, and sell the stuff the agent gives you at the local station.
I recently had a mission to transport 11 shuttles, but simply bought 'em at the destination cause they were in the same region. | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

Shia declining missions is NOT an exploit. Doing something that doesnt appear to be "normal" with the zor mission is (if they havent fixed it already). -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs
