I cant decide between gallente or minmitar for what race to start as. as the minmitar i start out with this order char int mem perc will. 6 4 4 17 14. i like that a lot but that leaves me with quite a few skills to train to get to the drone combat lvl. but then i look at the gallente same order 7 5 5 17 11 and i would think that even though it would take more training initially it would be better to start off as minmitar for the long run and just train through gallente stuff. am i correct?

For drones skill's it looks like gal > Military > Special Forces would be your best bet.
Drones 5
Drone sharpshooting 4
Drone nav 5
For best attributes i would go Cal > Achura > Inventor.
3 12 6 7 6 Then you can add in your free points you get at start up also.
Really the only way i know to see which one would be better is plug them both into evemon with the same skill plan and see which one is faster.
If you already knew all of this. Then this is just a free bump.

Drones are Memory/Perception. Next to that you'll need to trian quite a bit of Electronics, Engineering, Mechanic and Navigation, which all rely on Intelligence. So you really don't want to start with 4/4 for int/mem unless you're planning to train all the weapon systems and races and are a very patient person.

Caldari is a good race to start out as, especially with how the Achura bloodline can be created. Be sure to create your character with as little charisma as possible (3) and train learning skills right away. http://eve.idefix.net/career/ is an excellent site to look at as well (as mentioned above).

If you go Minmatar you can go Sebestior and work it out to all 7 except 6 charisma base. A lot of people consider that to be the optimal long-term distribution, especially if you're new and haven't decided on your career yet.
Don't make a char with 4 int and mem. You'll train a lot of skills depending on them, espesially early on.
Bottom line: Choose the race that has the most appeal to you and use the 5 free points to make your stats somewhat equal.
